Please note this posting is to advertise potential job opportunities. This exact role may not be open today but could open in the near future. When you apply, a Cisco representative may contact you directly if a relevant position opens.

Meet The Team

You will join a dynamic engineering team, building AI/ML solutions and collaborating closely with various teams, including platform, security, release engineering, and support, to deliver the product. You will also contribute to ensuring the product's smooth operation.

Your Impact

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing applications based on generative large language models, such as GPT-4, Claude, Llama, and their derivatives, ensuring they meet business requirements. Your duties will include optimizing these generative AI applications for optimal performance, scalability, and reliability. You will engage in red teaming activities to validate the robustness and precision of the applications. Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning is expected, as is suggesting how new technologies might be implemented. Additionally, you will design and develop APIs to facilitate interactions with AI models. Addressing and resolving any issues that arise from AI applications will be an integral part of your responsibilities.

  • Collaborates with multi-functional teams to capture and preprocess data for model training and supports basic preprocessing tasks.
  • Gains an understanding of business problem, model and data science infrastructure.
  • Creates custom layers using machine coding language, loads data into the data model, and collaborates on model architecture discussions with senior engineers.
  • Builds model based on assigned layer and location to address business need.
  • Customizes and finetunes the model design to reduce complexity and to align to problem statement.
  • Contributes to basic model training on the training set, following predefined optimization techniques.
  • Contextualizes the optimization of hyperparameters following provided guidelines.
  • Evaluates model performance using standard metrics.
  • Contributes on end-to-end automation efforts required to bring models to production.
  • Writes high quality and production ready code that meets business objectives.
  • Contributes to the platform-based deployment of ML models in a controlled environment.
  • Uses specific layers to aide in deployment of model by embedded engineering teams on target platform and customizes code as needed.

Who You Are

You are a lifelong learner, eager to adopt tools and technologies that address the challenges you encounter. You value forming relationships with your colleagues and take pride in coaching and mentoring engineers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion within the past 3 years, or current enrollment with expected completion within 12 months, of a certification or degree program (e.g., Associates, Apprenticeship, Boot Camp, or Certification in a specialized program + 3 years of relevant experience, High School Diploma + 4 years of relevant experience, Bachelors + 2 years of relevant experience) or Masters + 0 years of relevant experience. Relevant fields include: Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.
  • Deep understanding of various machine learning algorithms, including supervised learning (classification, regression), unsupervised learning (clustering, dimensionality reduction), and semi-supervised learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient with cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure for deploying and scaling ML models.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and ML model monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
  • Competence in Go/Java, particularly for backend development and integration with data science applications.
  • Coursework, research experience, academic publications, or industry experience in machine learning, generative AI, and analytics of time series systems.
  • Capable of collaborating with multi-functional teams to deliver production-ready ML solutions.
