What is the opportunity? Junior/Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) Trader is a professional who seeks best value and execution in trading MBS securities for our Financial Advisors (FA's) in an environment built on teamwork, service, responsibility, and integrity. This Trader would join a proactive team who through education and idea generation, drive productivity and deliver excellence in products and service to our Financial Advisors with focus on their client's best interest. What will you do?
- Trading and Execution: Execute MBS trades focusing on best execution while making every dollar count. Evaluates information related to financial markets and quickly and accurately assesses market risk in order to receive the best possible price. Access and manage risk within assigned limits for inventory books. Maintain current departments data base and processes.
- Analysis: Use tools such as Bloomberg to analyze the various structures and bonds available to provide best options for FA and client goals
- Idea Generation: Develop and distribute ideas on current market conditions and communicate them in a creative and timely fashion to the FA's. Proactively create actionable ideas for FA's and build relationships with the retail network by maintaining a high level of service.
- Collaboration: Work closely with various trading desks and traders to obtain market insight, develop trade ideas and cross product opportunities. Partner with various departments across RBC along with Business Development and Fixed Income Strategies to deliver a cohesive message on opportunities to FA's. Must be a team player willing to provide back-up for other team members and jump in as business needs arise including special project.
- Regulatory: Remain aware of changing compliance standards. Maintains proper and accurate records and ensures that all trades comply with regulations and policies.
What do you need to succeed? Must-have
- Bachelor's Degree, or the ability to demonstrate experience or academic achievement in
related fields such as Economics, Finance, or Mathematics, or equivalent work experience - Demonstrated knowledge of fixed income markets, economics, marketing strategies,
and other fixed income instruments or willingness to learn - Proficient with Bloomberg and other investment software package, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Series 7 & 63 licenses, or ability to acquire within 90 days
- Ability to perform varied tasks from multiple sources in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to quickly assess situations, react to market/economic conditions and offer
creative solutions and opportunities.
Nice-to-have
- 2+ years in Fixed Income environment and exposure to trading activity
- Prior experience in trading processes and procedures
- Proficiency with the Tradeweb platform

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $50,000 - $85,000, depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
