Physician Assistant - Dermatology

About the Role:

The Physician Assistant in Dermatology plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive skin care services within a multidisciplinary medical office building setting. This position involves diagnosing and managing a wide range of dermatological conditions, from common skin disorders to complex diseases, ensuring patients receive timely and effective treatment. The PA will collaborate closely with dermatologists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans, perform skin examinations, and assist in minor surgical procedures. Additionally, the role requires educating patients on skin health, preventive measures, and treatment options to promote long-term wellness. Ultimately, the Physician Assistant will contribute to enhancing patient outcomes and satisfaction through expert clinical care and compassionate communication.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the practicing state.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience or clinical rotations in dermatology preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior clinical experience in dermatology or related specialties.
• Advanced certification in dermatology or skin care procedures.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems used in dermatology practices.
• Strong background in minor surgical techniques and dermatologic procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations focused on dermatologic conditions.
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic skin diseases, including prescribing medications and therapies as appropriate.
• Assist dermatologists with surgical procedures such as biopsies, excisions, and cryotherapy.
• Provide patient education on skin care, disease prevention, and treatment adherence.
• Document patient encounters accurately and maintain up-to-date medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and follow-up appointments.
• Stay current with advances in dermatology through continuous education and training.
