Position Title: Machine Commissioner

Wage: $80,000 - $85,000 + benefits & retention incentives

A specialized machine-building company is seeking a Machine Commissioner professional to join its tight-knit team in the Greater Milwaukee area. This role is highly hands-on, combining electrical troubleshooting, PLC programming, and customer-facing installation support. If you enjoy both technical problem-solving and working directly with customers, this is a great opportunity in a stable and collaborative environment.

What You'll Do:

- Commission newly built machines by powering up, loading PLC programs, and testing against customer specifications

- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and mechanical issues (wiring, relays, sensors, pneumatics, motors)

- Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) at customer locations

- Train customers on operation, safety, and maintenance of equipment

- Serve as a professional, customer-facing representative of the company

- Travel 20-50 days per year (primarily U.S., occasional Canada); mostly weekdays with weekends at home

- Provide occasional support at industry trade shows (1-2 days, alternating between Chicago and Las Vegas)

What You'll Bring:

- Strong electrical aptitude-able to read schematics, trace wiring, and understand electrical theory

- Experience with PLC systems, pneumatics, sensors, bearings, and motors

- Hands-on background in machine building, automation, or maintenance troubleshooting

- Mechanical skills a plus, but electrical troubleshooting is most critical

- Self-motivated and adaptable in a small, fast-paced environment

- Professional communication skills to represent the company in front of customers

- No degree required-practical experience is valued above all else

Why Join:

- Stable, family-oriented culture with excellent employee retention

- Small, collaborative team with autonomy and minimal micromanagement

- Work on machines from design through build, test, and customer commissioning

- Retention-focused benefits (including contributions beyond traditional 401k)

- Role blends hands-on technical problem-solving with customer-facing interaction

- Direct visibility with company leadership and the opportunity to make an immediate impact
