Position Overview

The SDET Quality Assurance Manager will lead a team of SDETs and QA Automation Engineers working with the .NET tech stack at ZELIS. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring technical excellence and strategic influence. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving a roadmap to modernize test automation practices, evaluating the efficacy of custom-built automation framework, and enabling robust support for modern architectures and CI/CD pipelines.

The SDET Quality Assurance Manager will refactor regression pipelines to optimize performance and cost, implement effective QA status reporting using Azure DevOps (ADO) and open-source tools like Grafana, and play a key role in evolving the QA function to align with broader architectural transformations. A background in transforming legacy QA practices into modern, scalable, and efficient systems is highly desirable.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the evaluation, strategy, development, and maintenance of current and future test automation frameworks aligned with application architecture.

  • Research, evaluate, and implement new tools and methodologies to enhance automation efficiency.

  • Collaborate with Development teams to promote shift-left testing practices.

  • Organize and coach the QA Automation team to deliver both in-sprint and regression test automation.

  • Mentor and coach global teams, define upskilling paths, and promote a culture of continuous learning.

  • Review features and technical specifications to ensure comprehensive test coverage.

  • Ensure adherence to Zelis security and compliance standards.

  • Monitor and report on both qualitative and quantitative metrics of test automation. Executive-level reporting is a plus.

What You'll Bring to Zelis:

  • Minimum of 7 years in QA, with at least 3 years as a SDET Individual Contributor and 2 years in SDET leadership role in test automation.

  • Experience in modernizing test automation as part of architectural transformation initiatives.

  • Proficiency in .NET technologies, C#, and test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, RestSharp or equivalent API test automation tools, Specflow or equivalent BDD framework tools and JMeter.

  • Strong experience with CI/CD and DevOps Cloud Platforms like Azure DevOps for test case management, CI/CD pipelines, automation integration, and reporting.

  • Infrastructure and Containerization technologies like Virtual Machines, Docker and test orchestration tools like Selenium Grid.

  • Experience working with AI/ML-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar.

  • Experience and ability to model data schemas and relationships to produce realistic datasets using synthetic test data generation tools (any).

  • Build and maintain synthetic data generation pipelines for automated testing.

  • Performance testing and relevant tooling experience.

  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and agile development environments. Play a Scrum master role to drive the Test automation deliveries.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, mentoring, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Strong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Hire, onboard, and performance management of QA team members.

  • Oversee daily operations of global QA teams.

  • Analyze QA and automation processes, identify issues or inefficiencies, and drive improvements.

  • Foster a results-oriented culture with a focus on accountability and excellence.

  • Handle employee discipline and termination in alignment with Zelis policies.

Location and Workplace Flexibility

We have offices in Atlanta GA, Boston MA, Morristown NJ, Plano TX, St. Louis MO, St. Petersburg FL, and Hyderabad, India. We foster a hybrid and remote friendly culture, and all our employee's work locations are based on the needs of the position and determined by the Leadership team. In-office work and activities, if applicable, vary based on the work and team objectives in accordance with Company policies.

Base Salary Range

$105,000.00 - $140,000.00

At Zelis we are committed to providing fair and equitable compensation packages. The base salary range allows us to make an offer that considers multiple individualized factors, including experience, education, qualifications, as well as job-related and industry-related knowledge and skills, etc. Base pay is just one part of our Total Rewards package, which may also include discretionary bonus plans, commissions, or other incentives depending on the role.
