Position Summary:

The Anesthesia Technician is responsible for supporting the technical and organizational aspects of anesthesia care within the Operating Room and remote anesthetizing locations such as Labor & Delivery and IRCV. Under the direct supervision of a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), the technician assists anesthesia providers in preparing and performing various anesthesia procedures. As part of the anesthesia team, they help set up the patient/machine interface for anesthesia delivery and aid in managing the patient during surgery. The technician prepares patients for invasive monitoring line placement using sterile and aseptic techniques and is trained to obtain physiological samples and readings for the anesthesia team. Responsibilities include applying and maintaining all anesthesia-related equipment, instruments, and supplies throughout the operative procedure. The technician must also be capable of diagnosing basic equipment malfunctions and supporting the hospital's intubation program. They are proficient in sterile techniques, troubleshooting equipment, and preparing for central line and pulmonary catheter placement. Additionally, they draw lab samples, clean and process anesthesia equipment, and prepare it for subsequent use. They are trained to provide care across different age groups and understand the specific needs of each patient population, ensuring effective support before, during, and after surgical procedures.


Education/Experience:



  1. High School Diploma or GED required.
  2. Successful completion of allied health certification (i.e., CMA, CAN, EMT, etc.) or a minimum of one year of pre-professional health degree track with sciences concentration.
