Center for Distributed Learning:

The Center for Distributed Learning (CDL) serves as the central agent for online learning at UCF, providing leadership in distance learning policies, strategies, and practices. CDL supports and expands student access to education through the advanced application of instructional technology, data analysis, policy, and strategic planning for distributed learning programs and courses. We collaborate with internal and external partners to investigate, design, deliver, assess, and support online learning through faculty development, course production, and research, which are all aligned with institutional goals.

The Opportunity:

The Learning Technology Specialist III serves as the team lead for the learning technology support unit, overseeing daily operations and coordinating staggered support schedules to ensure efficient coverage. This role provides advanced technical support for learning technologies, manages escalated support requests, and acts as the primary liaison between the institution and learning technology vendors. Additionally, the Learning Technology Specialist III offers expert consultation on instructional tools, fosters relationships with vendors, and stays informed of system updates to improve institutional adoption and effectiveness. This position plays a pivotal role in mentoring team members, streamlining support workflows, and enhancing the overall learning technology experience.

This is an Auxiliary funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:


  • Supervise the instructional technology support team by overseeing daily operations, providing guidance, and coordinating staggered schedules to ensure continuous and efficient support coverage.

  • Provide advanced technical support and manage escalated issues, resolving complex learning technology concerns for faculty, staff, and students in a timely and effective manner.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with learning technology vendors, managing escalated tickets, advocating for institutional needs, and ensuring strong communication between the institution and providers.

  • Offer expert consultation on instructional technology tools, guiding faculty and staff in effective technology integration to enhance teaching and learning.

  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships by fostering partnerships with technology providers and serving as the institution's main point of contact (POC) for supported tools.

  • Monitor system updates and evaluate technologies, assessing potential impacts, communicating changes to stakeholders, and guiding institutional adoption.

  • Support documentation, training, and mentoring efforts by creating resources, facilitating workshops, and developing team capacity to strengthen institutional use of learning technologies.

  • May occasionally be asked to provide support outside of business hours.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in instructional technology, educational technology, information technology, instructional design, or a related field.

  • Experience supervising or leading a learning technology support team, including scheduling and daily operations management.

  • Demonstrated success resolving complex or escalated learning technology issues in a higher education environment.

  • Advanced knowledge of learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, D2L) and related instructional tools, with the ability to advise on effective integration into teaching and learning.

  • Proven ability to act as a primary liaison with technology vendors, including managing escalations and advocating for institutional needs.

  • Track record of building and maintaining strong vendor relationships to support the adoption and effectiveness of instructional technologies.

  • Experience in monitoring system updates, evaluating new technologies, and communicating technical changes to stakeholders.

  • Strong background in mentoring team members, facilitating training, and developing documentation to support institutional adoption of technologies.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for engaging with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
