The successful candidate:
This is a Full-time, Onsite position at the hospital located in Newnan, Georgia Hours: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST
RHIT certification is required!
The Senior Health Information Managment Representative analyzes medical records/patient chart episodes according to state, federal and accrediting agencies requirements for accuracy, completeness, clarity, legibility, timeliness, authentication and content.
Notify providers for any deficiency noted and record all deficiencies /delinquencies.
Complete weekly provider-specific communication on delinquent/deficient charts to specific providers and hospital leadership.
Onboard new members of med staff on HIM-specific best practices and expectations.
Essential Duties
Identify inpatient accounts and discharged accounts, reviewing the record for required information to determine completeness of record and take appropriate action based on findings.
Analyze medical reports and information against appropriate quality standards according to state, federal and accrediting agencies requirements for accuracy, completeness, clarity, legibility, timeliness, authentication, date, time restrictions, and content.
Notify providers, via the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), for any deficiency noted and record all deficiencies in the appropriate application
Re-analyze accounts and remove deficiencies on a daily/weekly/monthly basis according to the established schedule.
Prioritize accounts for analysis according to age and consistent with departmental key performance indicators (KPI). Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the HIM Department Management and perform periodic chart audits as assigned.
Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace code of Conduct and Compliance Plan.
Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Required Experience
Associate degree in Health Information Management
2 years in hospital or medical records environment
Health Sciences; Health Information Management
RHIT certification required
