Position Overview


Position Summary
The Transfer & Adult Student Recruitment Specialist is responsible for developing and executing targeted recruitment strategies primarily in Forsyth and Davidson counties to attract, engage, and enroll transfer and adult learners at Winston-Salem State University, a proud Historically Black College and University ( HBCU). This position focuses on strengthening access pathways for non-traditional students, including those returning to college, community college transfers, working adults, military-affiliated students, and others seeking degree completion.


A key focus of this role is fostering robust recruitment pipelines from the North Carolina Community College System ( NCCCS). The Specialist will build strategic partnerships with community college advisors, faculty, and administrators to facilitate student transfer and promote degree completion opportunities at Winston-Salem State University.



  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in college admissions, recruitment, advising, or community engagement-preferably with a focus on transfer or adult learners.
  • Demonstrated experience working with or recruiting from North Carolina Community Colleges is strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of transfer processes, articulation agreements (especially the North Carolina Comprehensive Agreement), and credit evaluation practices.
  • Ability to travel across North Carolina and represent the university in a professional, student-centered manner.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and data tracking tools (e.g., Slate and Banner).
  • Experience as a community college student or advisor is a plus.
  • Plan and implement targeted recruitment strategies focused on transfer and adult student populations, with a primary emphasis on students enrolled in the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS).
  • Build and maintain relationships with advisors, transfer coordinators, and leadership at NCCCS institutions across the state.
  • Travel regularly to NCCCS campuses to represent WSSU at transfer fairs, advising days, career expos, and other student-facing events.
  • Support and promote the university's participation in the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) and Bilateral Agreements with specific NCCCS colleges.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Office of Transfer and Adult Student Services and NCCCS partners to support joint programming, articulation alignment, and pathway awareness.
  • Provide personalized admissions guidance to NCCCS students, including credit transfer evaluation, program matching, and transition planning.
  • Create and deliver workshops and information sessions-both virtual and in-person-on topics such as degree completion, adult student success, and transfer credit policies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain up-to-date transfer guides, articulation resources, and adult learner onboarding tools.
  • Support data collection and reporting efforts related to NCCCS recruitment and community college enrollment trends
  • Coordinate with the Office of Marketing to tailor materials and campaigns for North Carolina community college audiences.
  • Uphold the university's mission of equity and access by engaging students from diverse educational and socioeconomic backgrounds.
