Description
Remote - Occasional on-site at Fort Belvoir, VA Who We Are: Connected Logistics builds secure, mission-critical IT and logistics solutions for the U.S. Army and other federal stakeholders. Our team values integrity, excellence, teamwork, and professional courage to deliver real impact for national security missions. What is AIE and Why It Matters: Accessions Information Environment (AIE) is the Army's enterprise recruiting and accession system. A cloud-based, Impact Level (IL)-4 Salesforce-powered platform built to replace multiple legacy recruiting systems. AIE streamlines lead generation, prospect tracking, applicant processing, enlistment paperwork, and onboarding for new soldiers, giving recruiters a modern, mobile-accessible, unified tool. Working on AIE means you'll be contributing directly to how the U.S. Army recruits, processes, and manages new soldiers. What This Role Means for You: As our Salesforce Technical Architect, SME, you will partner with the Technical Lead to guide the technical vision and integrity of key features and milestones for the AIE system. You will design solutions, enforce architecture standards, mentor developers, guide DevSecOps, and directly influence how we deliver secure, scalable applications to the U.S. Army. This is not a basic developer role. It is a leadership role. You'll own architecture, mentor leaders, and make decisions that impact frontline recruiting operations. Core Responsibilities: * Lead end-to-end Salesforce architecture including design, integration, data modeling, security, performance, and deployment strategy (org architecture, multi-org / multi-environment, sandbox strategies). * Architect and implement Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), OmniStudio (OmniScript, Integration Procedures, DataRaptors), or equivalent platform-native technologies balancing declarative vs code-based approaches for scalability and maintainability. * Define and enforce architecture governance in metadata strategy, naming conventions, environment governance, release management, version control, CI/CD workflows. * Collaborate with data SMEs to design scalable data models; oversee data migration, data quality, data governance, sharing & security architecture; plan for large data volume, data integrity, and compliance constraints. * Review and approve solution designs, custom code, configurations and integrations submitted by senior developers; provide technical mentorship and guidance. * Collaborate with DevSecOps and environment leads to ensure secure deployments, compliance with DoD/Army security requirements, environment parity, and deployment discipline. * Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation: architecture decision records, system diagrams, data and integration models, compliance artifacts, deployment plans. * Conduct architectural reviews periodically (design reviews, code reviews, architecture board), manage technical debt, and ensure long-term maintainability, performance, security, and compliance. * Translate complex Army requirements into scalable, maintainable, and compliant Salesforce solutions while communicating trade-offs, constraints, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership. * Mentor the Development team by promoting best practices, enforcing standards, encouraging continuous improvement, and building technical excellence across the organization. What Sets You Apart: * Additional architect-level certifications (e.g., System Architect, Application Architect, Deployment Lifecycle / DevOps-oriented certs) * Certifications or credentials in cloud infrastructure, security, or identity/access management (AWS, Azure, Security+, other relevant clearance-based credentials) * Experience delivering Salesforce-based solutions in multi-org, multi-environment, regulated/federal contexts * Prior history working under federal contracts or DoD Agile/Scrum teams, with compliance, traceability, and audit readiness * Demonstrated success coaching teams, enforcing architectural standards, and driving long-term system health and scalability What This Role Is Not: * Not a configuration-only, admin-heavy role. This is a full-architecture, technical leadership position. * Not a mid-level or senior-level developer role. You must have architecture ownership, strategic vision, and enterprise-scale experience. * Not a role where someone else calls the architectural shots. You lead and own architecture decisions, governance and system integrity. Connected Logistics respects the need for confidentiality for all applicants.
