Role Description

  • Title: Senior Associate Scientist- Biologics Process Development, Development Sciences and Technologies, VMRD

    • Zoetis discovers, develops, and manufactures a diverse portfolio of animal health medicines, biopharmaceuticals and vaccines designed to meet the real-world needs of veterinarians and the livestock farmers and companion animal owners they support. Zoetis has the first monoclonal antibody therapy for treating atopic dermatitis in dogs. We are currently seeking to fill new positions to support our growing biopharmaceutical portfolio.
    • Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Research and Development, Development Sciences and Technologies in Kalamazoo, MI, is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Test internal development samples using HPLC/UPLC, electrophoresis, spectrophotometric, molecular and/or ligand binding assays.
    • Generate, analyze, interpret, and report routine sample testing data.
    • Develop and maintain internal lab method documentation, ensuring methods are up-to-date and aligned with the analytical development expectations.
    • Apply technical assay expertise to provide guidance and support with method-related problems.
    • Assist in troubleshooting sample or instrument failures.
    • Train and mentor junior analysts on analytical method techniques and procedures.
    • Document procedure and results in laboratory notebooks.
    • Communicate test results with internal customers.
    • Assist with internal lab ordering, logistics, and instrumentation maintenance.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biology or a related discipline or related field with 3+ years of hands-on experience.
    • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment and effectively engage with partner groups.
    • Attention to detail and good oral and written communication skills required.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's degree preferred.
    • Experience in separation technologies including multiple modes for HPLC/UPLC and capillary electrophoresis (e.g., SEC, RP-HPLC, IEX, icIEF, CE-SDS) for protein analysis.
    • Experience in ligand-binding assays, such as ELISA for protein analysis.
    • Experience in molecular assays, such as qPCR.
