Description

Summary:

The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach supports the Associate Director of Athletics - Peak Performance in development, teaching, and monitoring of exercise and fitness programs for individuals, student athletes, and teams. The Assistant S&C Coach assists in the maintenance and continued functionality of the fitness equipment. The Assistant S&C Coach also serves as a resource for coaches and individuals in matters concerning conditioning, functional movement, and nutrition; promoting a spirit of health, wellness, and fitness across the School community.

This is a part-time position; the employee is expected to work around 20 hours per week during the academic year.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Associate Director of Athletics - Peak Performance to maintain all equipment care at the Al Rashid Fitness Center and the Sports Performance Center. Ensure that both centers are properly supervised and secured daily
  • Instruct individuals, athletes, and teams in the safe execution of flexibility, plyometrics, strength and speed development exercises, and teach them safe and effective spotting procedures to ensure maximum exercise effects and safety.
  • Instruct users concerning equipment options, exercise selection and technique, safety and injury prevention, specific movement drills, and program development.
  • Log weekly attendance report of team/individual conditioning sessions.
  • Maintain certifications and pursue other means of professional development/continuing education in the fields of health, wellness, fitness, and sports performance.
  • Assist the Associate Director of Athletics - Peak Performance in the creation and coordination of schedules and team training sessions.
  • Support the development and execution of team training sessions, monthly fitness workshops, individual general fitness programs for students and faculty, and facility orientation sessions in collaboration with the ADoAth - Peak Performance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Health and/or any related field, along with any previous work experience with high school athletes.
  • Must possess CPR/First Aid and AED certification, and an understanding of the functional training approach.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have the ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with groups and/or individuals, and deal with peers, the public, students, and parents in a positive, empathetic, and professional manner.
  • Must be able to review, understand, apply, and share concepts presented in training programs and/or professional literature.
  • NSCA-CSCS or NASM-PES certification preferred
  • Coaching experience at high school, college, pro, or equivalent level preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Software, ability to utilize a variety of computer and web-based programs. Experience using Veracross LMS.
