The Position

The Opportunity

You will help Roche Diagnostics advance its data-driven capabilities by taking AI from concept to reality. As a key member of our team, you will be instrumental in the transition from a project-based support function to a product-driven AI platform team. In this role, you will design, build, and deploy robust, scalable, and intuitive full-stack AI applications from internal teams, that directly address criticalbusiness needs and create tangible value from our data assets.

As an AI Full Stack Engineer, you will operationalizeour data science workflows by owning the end-to-end development of AI-powered applications. You will collaborate closely with business and data science stakeholders to transform high-level requirements and build production ready applications, positioning applied AI as a key competency within the enterprise.

What you'll be working on:

  • Drives End-to-End AI Application Development: Oversees all aspects of the AI application lifecycle, including design, engineering, model deployment, and front-end development. Sets priorities and ensures timely delivery of functional, user-facing AI solutions.

  • Collaborates with Stakeholders to Define Product Vision: Builds relationships with business and data science stakeholders to translate high-level business requirements and ad-hoc models into robust, scalable, and intuitive full-stack applications.

  • Engineers for the Full Stack: Designs, crafts, and deploys production-grade AI solutions using Python (Flask/FastAPI), SQL, and modern front-end frameworks (like React or Vue.js with JavaScript). This includes building backend APIs, managing data pipelines as needed, and creating interactive user interfaces.

  • Implements and Manages MLOps Infrastructure: Establishes and maintains the CI/CD/CT (Continuous Integration/Delivery/Training) pipelines necessary for automating the deployment, monitoring, and retraining of machine learning models in a cloud environment

  • Champions a DevOps and Cloud-Focused Approach: Ensures all solutions are built with scalability, reliability, and security in mind. Promotes best practices in version control (Git), containerization (Docker), and cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Provides Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Acts as the technical lead on AI application projects, guiding the decisions and implementation details. Mentors other engineers on software development best practices.

  • Ensures Adherence to Agile Methodologies and Quality Standards: Embraces agile principles to rapidly prototype, iterate, and respond to business user feedback. Adheres to and helps refine all standard processes for code quality, testing, and documentation.

  • Leads with Change Agility: Acts as a catalyst for transitioning the team from a project-based support function to a product-driven AI platform team, driving the adoption of new technologies from IT, and methodologies in a positive manner.

Who You Are

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics or equivalent field.

  • 5-7 years of experience in AI or data science applications.

  • Passionate about the application of software engineering practices and their advanced application to data science to drive insights and value within a business-centric environment.

  • Previous software engineering management and project management experience.

  • Solution-oriented and agile approach to solving business problems.

  • Extensive stakeholder management and technical leadership experience.

  • Expert understanding of key technologies including, but not limited to, Python, Javascript, and Web Frameworks.

  • Strong problem solving and consistent decision making skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly relating to conveying technical information to senior leadership.

  • Ability to collaborate with peers and provide effective, enterprise-wide capabilities and solutions.

This position is based in Indianapolis, IN and has an in office requirement of 3 days/wk.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indiana is $112,100 - $208,100.Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
