About the Role

We're seeking an experienced accounting professional with deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and accounting operations-and a curiosity for how technology can improve the way Accounting works. In this role, you'll use your accounting knowledge to identify and fix bottlenecks across close, reconciliations, and reporting, applying automation and AI tools to make processes faster, more accurate, and more auditable.

You'll combine accounting fluency, systems thinking, and a continuous improvement mindset to help modernize how the Accounting organization operates-strengthening controls, increasing efficiency, and enabling smarter, more scalable workflows across the business.

What you will do

  • Map and analyze accounting processes (close, reconciliations, reporting, audit prep) to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Redesign and optimize workflows for scalability and accuracy, leveraging automation, AI tools, or process simplification where appropriate.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, Finance, IT, and Data teams to translate business requirements into clear, actionable solutions.
  • Evaluate and implement automation or AI-enabled use cases within existing systems (e.g., NetSuite, Coupa, CaptivateIQ, Glean, ChatGPT).
  • Measure impact by defining and tracking metrics such as cycle-time reduction, accuracy improvements, or manual hours saved.
  • Document new workflows and controls, ensuring they are repeatable, auditable, and aligned with GAAP and compliance standards.
  • Enable the accounting team by sharing best practices, running pilots, and promoting adoption of new tools or methods.
  • Partner with leadership to shape the roadmap for ongoing accounting transformation and technology enablement.

Must Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in audit or advisory (Big Four or equivalent) or in-house accounting operations.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, reconciliations, close processes, and controls.
  • Proven ability to re-engineer accounting workflows for efficiency and compliance.
  • Curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset-comfortable testing, learning, and iterating.
  • Strong communication and translation skills to bridge accounting, finance, and technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with AI or automation tools (e.g., Glean, ChatGPT, Gemini) and how they can streamline accounting workflows.
  • Exposure to ERP or finance systems (NetSuite, Coupa, CaptivateIQ, Salesforce).
  • Experience with data visualization or reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
  • Nice to have: Python for data extraction, transformation, or analysis.
