| Description Summary Operates sheet metal fabrication equipment including shear, press, punch, saws, and drills to process sheet metal, metal roofing panels, plate, and potentially steel tube. Performs tack welding of nuts and bolts onto steel plates as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
  
 Reads and interprets fabrication prints or job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirementsSets up or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule or templatePositions workpiece against stop or aligns layout marks with die or bladeSets up and operates fabricating machines such as saws, drill, mill and punch to, cut, bend, block, and form or straighten materialsObserves machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctionsMeasures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operationPerforms minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies or workpiecesMaintains clean workspaceScans job worked time into data collection systemPerform other related duties as required
