Overview: Duties include a variety of advanced/non-traditional histology procedures, including IHC, on multi species research projects. Maintains inventory and ordering. May include high complexity testing, such as electron microscopy, depending on educational background. Expected to write and review SOPs. Maybe asked to fill in for the clinical Histology work. Education Requirement: Registered HT (ASCP) or Associate's degree in a chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, preferred. Certifications: Registered HT (ASCP) preferred. Experience: 1 year of experience, preferred. Physical Requirements: OCCASIONALLY: Bend/twist, Climb stairs/ladder, Fume /Gases /Vapors, Lifting / Carrying: 11-20 lbs, Lifting / Carrying: 21-40 lbs, Loud Noises, Pushing / Pulling: 0-25 lbs, Pushing / Pulling: 26-40 lbs, Reaching above shoulder, Squat/kneel FREQUENTLY: Chemicals/Medications, Machinery, Walking CONTINUOUSLY: Audible speech, Biohazard waste, Blood and/or Bodily Fluids, Color vision, Communicable Diseases and/or Pathogens, Computer skills, Decision Making, Depth perception, Flexing/extending of neck, Hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, Hearing acuity, Interpreting Data, Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Peripheral vision, Problem solving, Repetitive hand/arm use, Seeing - Far/near, Sitting, Standing "The above list of duties is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this classification.
