Daikin Applied is seeking a Technical Instructor - HVAC! In this challenging and engaging role, you will be responsible for designing, delivering, and managing advanced technical training programs for HVAC professionals. Responsibilities include curriculum development, instructional delivery, and program evaluation. The Technical Instructor serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in HVAC systems and technologies, and brings their knowledge and experience to a growing organization. Location: Hybrid, Plymouth, MN OR Staunton, VA

What you will do:

  • Deliver instructor-led (ILT) and virtual instructor-led (VILT) training on complex HVAC systems including centrifugal, rotary screw, scroll, and reciprocating chillers, air handling units, cooling towers, pumps, and control systems (DDC and pneumatic)
  • Facilitate engaging, performance-driven learning experiences for internal and external audiences
  • Adapt instructional methods to learner needs and technical complexity
  • Lead the development of multimedia learning assets including videos, eLearning modules, and simulations
  • Mentor junior instructors and contribute to professional development initiatives
  • Manage the full lifecycle of training programs, including design, scheduling, delivery, and post-training evaluation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product development, field service) to align training content with business goals and technical standards
  • Analyze learning metrics and performance data to assess effectiveness and recommend improvements
  • Oversee logistics, budgeting, and resource allocation in partnership with training administrators
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements
  • Serve as a recognized HVAC SME, providing technical guidance to instructional designers and stakeholders
  • Participate in product development meetings to offer field-based insights and customer feedback
  • Validate technical accuracy of training materials and contribute to continuous improvement of learning solutions
  • Represent the Learning Institute in strategic discussions with vendors, partners, and internal leadership

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4+ Years of HVAC experience focused on engineering, field service or sales
  • Demonstrated expertise in engineering, field service, or technical sales involving complex HVAC systems
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgment in troubleshooting, system design, or customer support
  • Experience interpreting and applying technical documentation, schematics, and industry standards
  • History of making strategic decisions that impact service quality, customer satisfaction, or product performance
  • Regular engagement in non-manual work requiring advanced technical knowledge and problem-solving skills
  • Expert-level understanding of HVAC systems and controls
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills for technical audiences
  • Ability to design and evaluate instructional content using adult learning principles
  • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS), virtual platforms, and multimedia tools
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills; ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $66,000 - $105,600 in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
