THE ROLE

The Enterprise Risk Business Partner plays a significant role in the execution of the MFS' enterprise risk framework by serving as the primary risk liaison for designated business units to assist in proactively identifying and addressing issues and weaknesses that could lead to unacceptable outcomes. This is achieved by establishing strong relationships with business line risk owners, performing annual and targeted risk assessments, and driving discussions around risk mitigation activities. This role ensures that management is supported to make informed and intelligent risk-based decisions in accordance with MFS' risk appetite and in alignment with the firm's strategic objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Direct and advise designated business unites with respect to the implementation of MFS' enterprise programs and related issues that periodically arise.

  • Facilitate the risk and control self-assessment (RCSA) program to identify risk exposure and gaps within business processes and controls.

  • Conduct targeted risk assessments (TRAs) on an as needed basis to provide an independent and focused observation and inquiry-based evaluation of the risk and/or control environments associated with a specific business activity.

  • Perform incident triage to assist the business in remediating impact, recording of incident details and proper escalation.

  • Partner with the business to document recommendations and action plans resulting from risk assessment programs and recommend mitigation strategies to reduce risk exposure.

  • Evaluate key initiatives to develop a detailed understanding of the impacted processes(es) and manage the assessment of risk impact and potential level of control existing is required.

  • Provide feedback to Senior Management on process improvement and risk mitigation opportunities.

  • Participate in relevant forums, stakeholder meetings and/or conduct workshops to promote a risk aware culture.

  • Provide effective challenge to help identify risks that could result in reputational, strategic, operational, financial, regulatory and/or talent impact to a specific program/initiative, business unit and/or the firm.

  • Prepare and present results of assessments, clearly and concisely in meeting and in reports and develop risk analysis reporting and presentations, as needed to MFS Committees and senior management.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Must have at least 6-8+ years of work experience in risk (i.e. enterprise or operational), investment management, financial services, internal audit, or industry related compliance.

  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise and/or operational risk assessments and best practices.

  • Ability to work independently with limited direction and guidance, manage multiple programs simultaneously and to take initiative.

  • Proven analytical skills with ability to synthesize complex information and develop creative solutions to problems.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization in a consultative role.

  • Some periodic travel, domestic and international, may be required.

PREFERRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • In-depth experience serving as a risk professional in investment management with a focus on portfolio management and trading.

  • Experience with Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) and data analytics tools preferred.
