The Clinical Informaticist applies knowledge of healthcare and information systems to promote effective and efficient use of clinical systems. Evaluate and communicate needs of the region, serving as a liaison between the end user and system services. Analyze regional impact of both minor changes and large system initiatives. Support users in application of technology (e.g., Electronic Health Record) to support communication and decision-making during patient care delivery.
This is a hybrid role that will work on-site in Madison, WI 2-3 days per week.
Responsibilities: Process Improvement
- Leverage knowledge of clinical operations to map current and future state workflows.
- Analyze gaps between current and ideal state to identify potential solutions that address underlying problems.
- Research solutions to improve processes, standards and/or technology based on approved guiding principles.
- Optimize department and integrated workflows.
- Evaluate results using quantitative measures of success. Establish processes for ongoing assessment of operations.
Support
- Utilize effective problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues in collaboration with end-users using change management and ticket tracking tools.
- Communicate clinical systems and workflow changes to assigned departments and user groups in a professional manner. Employ multiple teaching modalities to accommodate various learning styles.
- Responsible for maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of assigned applications, operational workflows and associated policies.
- Working with end users to triage and prioritize requests within the context of current departmental, hospital, and system priorities.
- Troubleshoot system access related issues serving as the liaison between regional end users and the system user provisioning team
Implementation
- Identify educational needs, develop, and deploy formal training programs.
- Facilitate account provisioning, modification, and access request tasks.
- Coordinate involvement of regional subject matter experts in system decision making.
- Based on clinical experience, test impact of proposed changes in the context of an integrated workflow.
- Assess operational impact of changes to clinical workflows.
Integration
- Work within strict confidentiality requirements in the preparation and distribution of sensitive information.
- Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
- Foster and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others to achieve shared goals.
- Establish long-range objectives then specify strategies and actions to achieve them.
- Balance system strategic priorities and affiliate operational needs.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree, completed coursework or equivalent work experience in healthcare field will be considered
- 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting performing or supporting functions
- Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
- Knowledge of information systems analysis, design, testing and implementation.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of healthcare operations
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Able to manage priorities, deadlines, and execute tasks
- Ability to analyze current processes, identify problems or opportunities and make recommendations to operational leadership
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Superior interpersonal skills
