Job Summary:

The In Home Support Counselor (IHSC) works for our Intensive Services Foster Care (ISFC) program. The IHSC is a behaviorally trained practitioner who provides one to one support services and intervention to the child, youth, and resource family as outlined in the child or youth's treatment plan. The IHSC is a member of the treatment team which includes the social worker, therapist, supervisor, school personnel, CSW and resource family. The IHSC works with the treatment team to coordinate interventions toward helping the child and youth to reach their goals.

The IHSC contributes to the organizations vision and mission and demonstrates the values of our organization.

The IHSC follows all Penny Lane Centers policies and procedures regarding the Heart Centered Culture, cultural sensitivity, and cultural awareness. The IHSC supports the agency mission and vision in their interaction with children, youth, families, and partner agencies.

Requirements:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work, child welfare, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of six months experience working with children, youth, and families.
    • This experience may include unpaid internship and volunteer experience
  • Or an AA degree with one year experience in working with a child with intensive behavioral health needs.
  • Must possess an understanding of cultural diversity and working from a family-centered, strengths-based perspective.
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to use the computer and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word for word processing and Microsoft Outlook for email use.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as case notes, policies and procedures, and safety rules as required by DCFS.
  • Bilingual Spanish required (verbal and written skillset).
  • Valid California driver's license; current automobile insurance; have and maintain a clean driving record acceptable to the organization's insurance company; have immediate access to his or her vehicle during work hours.

Position Location: Lancaster, CA

Salary Range: $23.99 - $33.77 per hour

Additional $2.00 per hour bilingual Spanish differential.
