Job Description

We are seeking a highly strategic and client-focused Account Director to lead one of our largest and most complex accounts in the telecommunications sector. This role requires deep expertise in media strategy and a proven ability to drive measurable growth across highly competitive, large-scale industries.

The Account Director will act as a trusted advisor to senior telecom executives, developing integrated, data-driven media strategies that balance brand equity, customer acquisition, and retention goals. This leader must thrive in fast-paced, performance-driven environments while managing large cross-functional teams to deliver results that move the business forward.

Key Responsibilities

Client Leadership

  • Serve as the primary senior contact for a leading telecom client, cultivating trusted partnerships with executives and decision-makers.

  • Understand complex business objectives such as customer growth, churn reduction, and product adoption, and translate them into actionable media strategies.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to deepen the client relationship and expand agency services.

  • Champion client satisfaction, anticipating needs and delivering solutions that address both immediate challenges and long-term priorities.

Media Strategy

  • Lead the development of multi-channel, integrated media strategies across digital, traditional, and emerging platforms that support acquisition, retention, and upsell objectives.

  • Partner with analytics, research, and media buying teams to design data-driven approaches rooted in audience segmentation and behavioral insights.

  • Ensure strategies are innovative, measurable, and aligned with telecom-specific KPIs, lifetime value (LTV), and market share growth.

  • Deliver forward-looking recommendations that reflect industry trends, competitive shifts, and new technologies shaping telecom.

Campaign Oversight and Execution

  • Oversee execution of large-scale media campaigns with multiple moving parts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and budget discipline.

  • Monitor performance across channels and lead optimization efforts to maximize efficiency and ROI.

  • Present results, learnings, and insights in compelling formats tailored for senior leadership, demonstrating clear business impact.

Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of account managers and strategists, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.

  • Drive alignment with creative, analytics, operations, and media buying teams to deliver seamless, integrated solutions.

  • Act as a visible leader who models proactive problem-solving, thought leadership, and strategic excellence.

Qualifications
  • 7-10+ years of experience in an agency environment, ideally working with telecom, technology, or other large-scale, complex clients.

  • 4 year Bachelors Degree in related discipline required

  • Graduate Degree in data sciences, economics, analytic MBA or similar graduate degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of marketing strategy experience and large client relationship management

  • Proven success leading multimillion-dollar accounts with measurable impact on client growth and performance.

  • Deep expertise in digital and traditional media, with fluency in advanced targeting, segmentation, and performance metrics.

  • Strong financial and analytical acumen, with ability to connect media performance to business outcomes and churn reduction.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior executives.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of developing high-performing teams.

Additional Information

RRD's current salary range for this role is $141,000 to $225,600 / year. The salary range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the future. At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program. RRD's benefit offerings include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, life insurance and other voluntary supplemental insurance coverages, plus parental leave, adoption assistance, tuition assistance and employer/partner discounts.
