Music Content & Editorial Team This is a 12-month, full-time (40 hours/week), hybrid contract role located in Culver City, California. Summary
This role is responsible for crafting editorial language and stories that define a music streaming service's brand voice across marketing channels. The writer will influence how the brand communicates internally and externally, shaping messaging that engages audiences and strengthens brand positioning. Our Ideal Candidate
5+ years of experience in music writing, editing, or related editorial roles
Passion for music and pop culture, with strong storytelling and narrative skills
Proficient in writing, editing, and developing creative briefs; strong communication skills
Familiar with music marketing strategies and audience engagement principles
Skilled in collaborating with marketing, PR, and cross-functional teams
Able to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, timelines, and stakeholders
Strong written and verbal communication with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to apply inclusive language and adapt messaging for diverse audiences
Job Description
In this role, you will write and edit briefs that inform brand messaging and positioning both internally and externally. You'll partner with marketing, PR, and cross-functional teams to develop strategic storytelling plans, engage target audiences, and create new editorial concepts. This includes:
Crafting content that aligns with the brand voice across various channels
Developing story angles and creative approaches based on audience insights
Staying up to date on music and cultural trends
Shaping written communications that reflect the brand's editorial point of view
You will also maintain consistency with style guides and writing standards, supporting the overall success of the editorial and marketing teams. Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
Background in music media, editorial content, or storytelling
Experience writing and editing for major music or cultural media brands preferred
Additional Requirements:
This opportunity is located in Culver City, California, and requires hybrid work (3 days on-site per week)
Pay range: $72.52/hour
