Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Nurse Program Coordinator/Case Manager for the Rutgers Occupational Health Department. Reporting to the Administrative Manager, this position has primary responsibility for Occupational Health program management, Case Management for occupational injuries and illnesses for New Brunswick, Camden and Newark as well as Rutgers Cooperative Extensions, farms and outlying departments.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Provides general occupational nursing services, including triage of patients, and treatment of minor injuries in New Brunswick
- Develops, implements and maintains surveillance programs to meet regulatory and accreditation standards and university needs
- Tracks and reviews all test results, health questionnaires with NP/PA/MD
- Provides case management for occupational injuries and illnesses on New Brunswick, Camden and Newark campuses, cooperative extensions and farms
- Serves as liaison with Department of Risk Management and Workers' Compensation Third Party Administrator (TPA), providing them with updates on employee status
- Evaluates and coordinates injury prevention efforts based on injury data
- Helps to maintain the Occupational Health Department's policies and procedures
- Provides consultations to Newark and Camden campuses related to provisions of occupational health services
- Develops and provides wellness initiatives for employees.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Registered Nurse with Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Two (2) years of experience in either Occupational Health, Emergency Nursing or strong clinical skills.

Certifications/Licenses |
- A valid driver's license would be required for this position.
|
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification on hire; or certification within 60 days of hire.
- Must be able to independently triage patients and provide first aid.
- Must be comfortable speaking directly with physician consultants (eg. orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, etc.) regarding care and work status for injured employees.
- Must be able to provide guidance to supervisors and managers regarding injured employees work status, follow up.
- Requires the ability to deal with the intricacies of Workers' Compensation laws and regulatory guidelines.
- Must be able to combine care and empathy for injured employees with ability to set firm limits related to attendance and return to work.
- Must be able to deal effectively and diplomatically with employees, supervisors and consultants.
- Computer literacy in industry standard software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN-S).
- Experience with occupational exposures and injuries.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and Workers Compensation.
- Experience with EMR.
- Phlebotomy.

- Valid NJ driver's license.
- Ability to drive to locations on the New Brunswick, Newark and Camden campuses, the Rutgers COOP Extension Farms and to other locations as assigned.
- Requires the ability to type; sit for prolong periods; and lift up to 25 lbs.
