The Role:

As the Providence Clinical Network Chief Financial Officer, South Division (California), you will be an integral member of both divisional and system-wide finance leadership teams. Based in the vibrant city of Irvine, you will collaborate with local, service area, and division leaders to craft strategy and propel operational goals and budgets for California medical groups and managed care. You will support transformation initiatives, represent service areas in joint ventures and boards, and share accountability for divisional and local operations. This role involves working closely with shared services to achieve results and reports directly to the Providence CFO, Ambulatory & Clinical Services, with a matrixed line to the PCN South Division Chief Executive and CFO.

What You'll Do:



  • Mission Champion: Champion the mission, vision, and values of Providence St. Joseph Health.
  • Operational Leader: Drive achievement of operating results and strategies for the service line in collaboration with PCN and South Division leadership.
  • Strategic Collaborator: Partner with PCN South Division and service area leadership to address challenges and implement strategies that enhance financial performance.
  • Budget Overseer: Manage strategy and details for divisional, service area, and local budgets, overseeing financial benchmarks and reporting indicators.
  • Network Supporter: Facilitate integrated delivery networks with monthly operating reviews.
  • Board Representative: Represent the region on joint venture boards or committees as assigned.
  • Service Partner: Collaborate with shared services (revenue cycle, accounting, reimbursement, resource engineering, hospitality) for financial reporting and performance improvement.
  • Finance Liaison: Act as finance liaison on local/geographic boards and committees; regularly communicate financial matters to leaders and employees.
  • Authority Exerciser: Exercise signature authority on documents in accordance with system authority matrix and relevant regulations.


What You'll Bring:



  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience, including 10+ years in leadership roles.
  • Analytical Expertise: Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
  • Financial Acumen: Proven ability to interpret financial data and apply financial principles.
  • Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication; skilled in presentations (live and virtual).
  • Collaborative Ability: Excellent collaboration, team building, and conflict management abilities.
  • Relationship Builder: Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and resolve issues positively.
  • Healthcare Insight: Broad understanding of healthcare trends and changes.
  • Representation Skills: Represent the organization well with external customers/clients.
  • Decision-Making: High accuracy, sound judgment, and decision-making under pressure.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills; able to prioritize, analyze, and meet deadlines.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage and complete multiple projects successfully, including planning, oversight, and budget management.
  • Performance Metrics: Skilled in defining, developing, and analyzing performance metrics.
  • Team Coordination: Strong project management and team coordination abilities.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in desktop software (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Internet, Email).
  • Health IT Knowledge: Knowledgeable in health information technology to support care improvement (e.g., EMRs).
