About the Role:
In this dynamic position, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining sophisticated reporting solutions that provide deep insights into business performance. You will translate complex data requirements into intuitive and high-performing reports, directly contributing to data-driven decision-making and strategic planning. Your work will enable various teams to understand trends, identify opportunities, and optimize operations, playing a crucial part in the company's ongoing success and innovation. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced business intelligence reports and dashboards.
- Perform robust data querying, profiling, and reconciliation to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Implement effective data models, including star schema, calculated columns, and measures, utilizing advanced analytical expression languages.
- Develop and manage ETL processes using data transformation languages and orchestration tools.
- Optimize report and data model performance through careful design, relationship management, and the use of specialized tuning tools.
- Ensure data security and governance by implementing Row-Level Security (RLS), sensitivity labels, and managing dataset permissions.
- Manage reporting service environments, including workspace administration, app publishing, scheduled refreshes, and data gateways.
- Conduct thorough testing and documentation of all reporting solutions, adhering to best practices for naming conventions, validation, and user guides.
Qualifications:
- Must have 8-10 years of relevant experience
- Power BI Desktop proficiency: star schema modeling, calculated columns/measures, DAX (iterators, CALCULATE/filters, time-intelligence), Power Query/M for ETL.
- Data querying: solid SQL (joins, window functions, CTEs), ability to profile data and reconcile to source. Plus use ADF to pull data.
- Visualization & UX: choice of visuals, bookmarks, drill-through, tooltips, field parameters; accessibility basics.
- Performance tuning: model size control, relationships & filter directions, VertiPaq fundamentals, DAX Studio for query plans, Performance Analyzer.
- Security & governance: Row-Level Security (RLS), sensitivity labels, dataset permissions; understands data privacy levels.
- Power BI Service: workspaces, app publishing, scheduled refresh, gateways, endorsements/certification.
- Testing & documentation: measure naming conventions, calculation validation, changelogs, user guides.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Copilot/AI: Familiarity with enabling AI in PBI reports
- Microsoft Fabric awareness: Lakehouse/Warehouse basics, Direct Lake vs Import/DirectQuery trade-offs.
- SSAS Cube: Create and update existing measures and dimensions
- Advanced DAX patterns: semi-additive measures, disconnected tables, calculation groups (Tabular Editor).
- Data quality: checks, recon dashboards, handling late-arriving data & slowly changing dims.
- Custom visuals & scripting: certified visuals, light Python/R for visuals
- Azure stack: ADLS/OneLake, AAD/Entra ID, Synapse/Databricks awareness, on-prem gateway administration.
- Usage monitoring: audit logs, activity metrics, adoption & SLA reporting.
- Stakeholder skills: requirements elicitation, wireframing, storytelling with data, iterative delivery.
