Howmet Aerospace's Wichita Falls, TX facility has an opening for Power Pac Operator.

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 12 HOUR ROTATING NIGHT SHIFTS, 7:00 P.M TO 7:00 A.M. (2 on 2 off, 3 on 2 off, 2 on 3 off)

Pay rate begins at $21.26 and tops out at $25.70 at 9 months. (plus 1.00 shift differential)

Job Summary


Works under general supervision to remove shell from castings using shot blast to remove gatings and excess metal from castings using various equipment. Operates the Brown and Sharp for specific decap operations. Operates heat stamp machine. Operates automated radial grinding equipment. Continuously works to meet quality customer requirements with minimum inventory. Works as a team member in a cell environment to optimize product flow.




ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Using Computers (entering information, etc.)
  • Must be able to read and interpret Product Criteria (PC) and Activity Instructions (AI).
  • Must be able to function as a member of a team and be able to work under general supervision.
  • Must be able to maintain expected quality levels.
  • Comply with all site required policies and procedures including but not limited to: EHS, Quality, Code of Conduct and the Wichita Falls Employee Handbook.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Operates shot blast to remove shell.
  2. Removes gating to within specified tolerance of witness line by operating one or more grinding fixtures and/or hand grinding.
  3. Gauges castings periodically after grinding to ensure set-up remains accurate; readjusts as required.
  4. Replaces worn abrasive belts on power pac machines.
  5. Sets up and operates Cincinnati and or Brown and Sharp grinders for specific decap and gate removal operations
  6. Changes and dresses wheels on Cincinnati and or Brown and Sharp grinders as required
  7. Inspects casting with standard gauges or devices.
  8. Verify routings with castings to assure that all previous operations have been completed.
  9. Keeps heats separated.
  10. Selects and sets up fixtures for required task.
  11. Informs supervisor of required maintenance.
  12. Completes preventative maintenance as required
  13. Completes tasks per the PMS, or Activity Instructions, Product Criteria, or Temporary Instructions.
  14. Responsible for product quality while performing semi-routine task.
  15. Maintains a clean and orderly work area with a continuous goal to improve the 5S program.
  16. Must be able to move to various equipment without direction to optimize flow.
  17. Must strive to decrease cycle and total departmental lead times.
  18. Must strive to eliminate scrap and rework.
  19. Perform other duties as required.
  20. Complies with all EHS rules related to the work environment.



  • Works overtime as needed.

Physical Demands:

  • Bending and squatting.

  • Be able to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Be able to balance.
  • Reach, near, far and overhead.
  • Be able to carry with one hand
  • Performs heavy laboring operations such as loading or unloading, manipulating and lifting pieces of castings weighing >25 lbs. to < 50lbs in substantial amounts.
  • Must pass Jaeger I eye exam.
  • Work consists of considerable physical effort.
  • Eye, hand, and foot coordination required to operate power pac tables.
  • Performs heavy laboring operations such as loading or unloading, manipulating and lifting castings.


Training:



  • Ninety days to six months on-the-job training.
  • Completed Training Folder.
  • Hazardous energy sources (LTV)
  • Machine Guarding

  • Cincinnati grinder/Brown & Sharp.
  • Shot Blast
  • Heat Stamp Machine
  • Various Fixtures.
  • Automated radial grinding equipment.
  • Pallet Jack



Work Environment: (Chemical and Physical Exposure)



  • Constant exposure to seasonal temperature fluctuations, dust, dirt and loud noise in substantial amounts.
  • Exposure to abrasive wheels, hot flying metal and abrasives and continuous lifting.
  • Exposure to Heat and Nickel.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Knowledge of Power Pac equipment.
