LOCATION: Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center - Phoenix, Arizona

STATUS: Non-Exempt Part-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Music Ministry Lead is responsible for overseeing all music ministries and programming at the Kroc Center, including worship services, rehearsals, events, and musical outreach. This position will develop and implement a Christ-centered, dynamic, and engaging music ministry that enhances worship and discipleship, aligning with The Salvation Army's mission, policies, and practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Uniformed Salvationist preferred.
  • Degree in Music, Worship Arts, Christian Ministry, or a related field preferred; or a strong working knowledge of church music and theology.
  • Proficiency in voice and/or at least one instrument (e.g. keyboard, guitar, brass, percussion, etc.).
  • Experience in coordinating music teams or ensembles.
  • Ability to engage a diverse community through music.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and volunteers effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Planning Center, and/or other music or worship planning software preferred.
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License and insured transportation. (Commercial license preferred; must be obtained within two months if not held.)
  • Must pass The Salvation Army's Fleet Safety Program certification annually.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications required (or must be obtained within two months of hire).
  • Must be able to work in a Christian environment and uphold The Salvation Army's mission and values with integrity and professionalism.
  • Must adhere to The Salvation Army's Protecting the Mission and Child Safety Policies.
  • Background check required.


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Plans and prepares music for Sunday services and special events, coordinating with the Worship Leader, Corps Officers and Ministry team.
  • Lead and/or coordinate rehearsals for praise teams, choirs, bands, or other musical groups.
  • Develop and schedule music for all services using planning software.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers and participants in music ministry.
  • Support children and youth music development in coordination with youth ministry staff.
  • Manage sound and music equipment, ensuring proper use, maintenance, and inventory.
  • Collaborate with other ministry leaders to integrate music into various church programs and outreach events.
  • Organize seasonal musical events, such as Christmas and Easter programs.
  • Attend staff and ministry team meetings and contribute to a collaborative, Christ-centered ministry environment.
  • Coordinate, help lead and implement Arts & Education Music Programs for the Center.
  • Assist with seasonal programs such as the Red Kettle campaign or other community engagement efforts as assigned.
  • Ensure all music ministry areas are compliant with Protecting the Mission and Child Safety standards.
  • Receive and account for any music-related offerings, activity fees, or donations as needed.
  • Provide transportation to music-related events or activities when necessary.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned related to the position of Music Ministry Lead.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate a telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
