Job Summary
To perform testing of pathologic specimens using molecular and image analysis techniques. Improve existing techniques and develop new applications for these techniques.
Essential Functions
  • Prepare specimens and perform a variety of molecular assays such as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Southern Blotting, fluorescent in-situ hybridization (FISH), capillary and gel electrophoresis. Trouble shoot assays as required to maintain and improve quality assurance.
  • Prepare specimens for hormone receptor analysis (ER/PR and Her2neu) and analyze by quantitative image analysis.
  • Prepare specimens and perform DNA ploidy analysis by image analysis.
  • Quality control, quality assurance, improve existing techniques and develop new applications or procedures, write procedures, CAP lab duties.
  • Prepare reagents, buffers and solutions at appropriate pH and molarity.
  • Monitor supply inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Teach Histotechnology students, Pathology residents as required.
Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • CRT-Medical Technologist, Certified (MT) - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology preferred Or
  • CRT-Histotechnologist (HTL) - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology preferred
  • CRT-Molecular Specialist - ASCP #N/A preferred
