Job Requirements

The Scrum Master III works directly with agile teams to advise and oversee performance against agile values, practices, and processes. As a servant leader, the Scrum Master III monitors team performance, identifies opportunities for continuous improvement, and supports delivery through agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. They collaborate with Product Owners, Directors, and Program Managers to ensure alignment of team outcomes with organizational priorities and to surface reporting on project health. The Scrum Master III also serves as an advocate and subject matter expert on agile practices within the organization and externally.

The Impact You Will Create:

This project supports modernizing our customer's public-facing disclosure and filing systems. The effort involves designing, developing, and maintaining a secure, cloud-based platform that improves how financial data is submitted, processed, and accessed. The team will use Agile, DevSecOps, and user-centered design practices to deliver scalable, high-impact digital services that enhance transparency, compliance, and accessibility. Work includes building APIs and web interfaces, implementing Zero Trust security, automating testing and deployments, and enabling continuous improvement through cloud-native and AI-driven solutions. Fearless is seeking a Scrum Master to serve as a senior servant-leader and Agile delivery facilitator for cross-functional teams supporting public sector digital services. This individual ensures that Agile principles and practices are effectively applied, team performance is optimized, and outcomes are aligned with the mission and goals of federal customers. As a senior Scrum Master, you will work closely with product owners, technical leads, designers, and stakeholders to remove impediments, improve delivery workflows, and foster continuous improvement in environments subject to security, compliance, and policy constraints.

Your Responsibilities in This Role:

  • Lead all Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, reviews, backlog grooming). Ensure practices align with Scrum or SAFe frameworks as appropriate.
  • Mentor team members on Agile values and practices. Foster self-organization, accountability, and psychological safety.
  • Proactively identify and remove blockers affecting team progress. Serve as liaison between the team and external dependencies or leadership.
  • Track and report on key Agile metrics (e.g., velocity, burndown, cycle time) to support transparency and informed decision-making.
  • Promote Agile maturity through retrospectives, feedback loops, and coaching. Identify opportunities to enhance delivery processes.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Delivery Managers, and Government stakeholders to ensure alignment on goals, priorities, and outcomes.
  • Ensure team practices account for FISMA, FedRAMP, Section 508, and other federal compliance requirements where applicable.
  • Support Agile at scale when needed (e.g., SAFe, Scrum of Scrums, cross-team planning and coordination).
  • Manage and maintain Agile tooling environments (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Miro) to support backlog management, sprint planning, and knowledge sharing.


Work Experience

  • 7+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or equivalent role.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Bachelor's degree or higher required
  • Demonstrated experience leading Agile teams in federal digital services, including delivery under security and compliance constraints.
  • Deep knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and Agile principles.
  • Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Agile collaboration and version control tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Miro)
  • Proven ability to work across technical, design, product, and stakeholder teams.
  • Experience with incremental delivery, user feedback integration, and MVP delivery strategies.
  • Experience leading agile ceremonies
  • Experience enabling iterative delivery in DevSecOps environments (within SEC is a plus)
  • Working knowledge of human-centered design principles.
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Experience ensuring transparency and continuous communication with stakeholders and delivery teams
  • Experience incorporating user feedback into backlog refinement to drive user-focused development and ensure transparency across teams and stakeholders
  • Proven ability to foster team collaboration, manage change, and translate requirements between technical and business teams.
  • Proven ability gathering requirements and translating them between technical and business teams

  • Current certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or SAFe Scrum Master (SSM).
  • Experience working in or with federal agencies.
  • Experience supporting DevSecOps delivery models and CI/CD integration.
  • Understanding of federal IT policies, such as Executive Order 14058, OMB A-11 Section 280, and digital.gov Agile guidance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).

Minimum Salary: 91,554

Salary Midpoint: 119,020
