* This is a Night Shift Position: Hours are 4:30 PM - 4 AM, Monday - Friday *
* Night Shift Differential Applies! Base Pay + $4.00/hour! *
The Forklift Operator supports the machining department in moving materials, emptying chip hoppers, and performing other support duties as assigned. The operator will traverse multiple buildings across the facility campus and may operate multiple types of equipment.
Essential Functions

To accomplish this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


  • Operates forklift(s) and other material handling equipment (overhead and/or jib crane, hand trucks, etc.) to move raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods throughout the facility, empty chip hoppers into appropriate
  • containers; may empty waste or scrap bins
  • Complete necessary paperwork to designate the movement of goods and identify storage location as appropriate
  • Safely secures and balances loads and complies with safety policies and procedures including seatbelt requirements while operating any lift
  • Verifies equipment is operating correctly and safely; performs basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance as appropriate; reports maintenance issues promptly and may enter work orders into the maintenance system
  • Follows directions consistently and accepts responsibility for his/her actions and work product
  • Communicates appropriately and effectively, both verbally and in writing (English)
  • Adheres to safety guidelines and procedures; proactively identifies job hazards and collaborates with leadership to minimize hazards and ensure employee safety
  • Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required


Required Education and Work Experience


  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience driving forklift to move oversized items in a shop environment is required; machine shop experience is preferred


Physical Demands and Work Environment

To perform the essential functions of the role, employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations:


  • Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility
  • Sit for long periods while driving to perform job duties
  • Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 100 pounds using material handling & lifting devices as appropriate
  • Occasionally climb steps, stairs, or ladders; regularly step up and down to/from forklift
  • Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
  • Visual acuity to accurately distinguish colors to respond to sensors, indicators, and color-variable dashboards
  • Hearing ability to respond promptly to audible warnings or alerts
  • Use hands and fingers, legs, and feet to operate forklifts, crane controls, and perform other duties


Working Conditions

Work is performed in a manufacturing shop and warehouse environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:


  • Excessive noise- hearing protection required (occasionally)
  • Dust, smoke, fumes/vapors (occasionally)
  • Extreme temperatures (occasionally)
  • Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment


The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and use of safety

footwear is required
