General Summary

The Process Engineer is responsible for generating productivity increases, enhancing product quality and reducing costs through process/layout improvements, machinery specifications and development of new technologies.

Works under general direction of the Engineering Manager; exercises discretion and judgment on work priority on a regular basis; and high degree of creativity is expected.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primary objectives are productivity improvement, process efficiency, cost reduction, and high quality.

  • Develops operating profiles which maximize output, product quality, and minimize scrap and ensure their use throughout the plant.

  • Analyzes data and develops processes and methods to improve efficiency and quality.

  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of sensors and equipment for possible operation applications and assists in machinery and equipment specification.

  • Generates standard operating procedures and relevant process documentation.

  • Works with integrators and vendors on SCADA, MES systems, PLC controls and machinery to enhance productivity.

  • Assist and train process technicians and operators on working knowledge of the process.

  • Manages all aspects of the development and implementation of production projects.

  • Prepares and/or revises the plant layout as required.

  • Participates in the Safety Committee and ensures that the operation is consistent with Company and OSHA policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Works with the Quality Control department to ensure compliance with code reports.

  • Prepares various reports as required.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Job Specifications

Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering related discipline or equivalent.

  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing is required; experience with profile extrusion is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word.

  • Understanding of SCADA, MES systems and PLC controls.

  • Working knowledge of CAD software.

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations.

Skills and abilities

  • Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking.

  • Demonstrated skill in improving processes and develop efficiencies in manufacturing processes.

  • Ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels and the public.

  • Ability to apply business math to manufacturing processes.

  • Ability to use a computer, and proficiency of the use of MS Office and other business and engineering software.

  • Ability to manage several activities/projects at once, to organize and prioritize work, to meet deadlines, to prepare plans, goals, and budgets.

  • Demonstrated ability to be mobile in the work environment.

  • Ability to pass a drug test. Conduct
