About the Role:

This is an exciting position that is responsible for the planning and execution of engineering support to production and leading the execution of development task orders in support of the Sgt. Stout (formerly M-SHORAD) program. The Sgt. Stout program is the newest ground to air defense system that is based on a Stryker A1 platform.

Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role:

This position will be responsible for the following:

Engineering Support to Production

  • Leading the technical management and resolution of production related problem reports in alignment with the needs of the Sgt. Stout Production Program.
  • Collaborate with technical leads, ensure high quality corrective actions are developed, validated, and approved through the GDLS and our subcontractor partners' change process.
  • When required, planning and managing individual projects for critical/significant issues that pose a significant risk to the production program.
  • Coordinating technical activity with the customer to ensure alignment and agreement on the path forward and mitigation plans for technical issues.
  • Responsible for communicating obsolescence alerts to the customer and make recommendation for resolution.
  • Support internal coordination meetings and ensure effective cross functional communication.

Lead Task Orders as Assigned

  • Support proposal development and associated kick-off packages in response to customer RFPs.
  • Create project plans/schedules by working with the GDLS Engineering organization, our major subcontractors and other functional organizations. Ensuring project schedules are synchronized and integrated between GDLS and our subcontractor partners. This includes formal IMS deliveries to the customer in accordance with the contract.
  • Manage all projects within agreed upon contract scope, schedule and budget to a high level of quality and ensuring product safety for the Soldier.
  • Ensure all project milestones are completed on time and in alignment with our internal processes.
  • Forecasting all engineering manpower for theproject(s)for which you are responsible.
  • Identify critical issues/risks requiring action in a timely manner and manage to closure.
  • Provide status of projects at various meetings, both internally and with the customer, including to Engineering and Program leadership.
  • Utilize and/or develop metrics for monitoring project performances.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Sought for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical, or computer engineering preferred. Other technical degrees will be considered with relevant experience.
  • Advanced/additional degree, MBA or MS a plus.
  • 10+ years relevant experience in the engineering/defense industries.
  • Demonstrated project engineering experience overseeing complex technical projects.
  • Expectation is that the candidate possesses, understands, and can apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of project management to plan and execute engineering projects.
  • Proven experience in technical interface with customers and ability to lead multi-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Analytical skills and ability to direct and consult on technical analyses.
  • Must be willing to travel (domestic and/or foreign) as needed (15%).
  • Proficiency in Windows XP and Microsoft Office with adequate computer skills to manage the development of presentations and other methods of media display.
  • Knowledge of business finances, project budget management and forecasting, scheduling tools, and critical path analysis.

  • This position may require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance) No sponsorship offered.
  • Able to bring continuous improvement processes and methodologies to the position. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills is required Works well in team and individually
  • Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required
