Description

The Department of Medicine at UCLA is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fund Manager to provide comprehensive financial oversight for the Clinical AIDS Research and Education (CARE) Center. This key role supports both pre- and post-award administration, playing a vital part in advancing groundbreaking clinical research.

The Fund Manager will lead all aspects of grant and contract management, including budget development, proposal submission, and ongoing financial analysis for a diverse portfolio of federal, state, industry, and private funding sources. Responsibilities include preparing detailed financial reports, projections, and analyses; maintaining both manual and electronic financial systems; and ensuring compliance with university and sponsor regulations. You will serve as a strategic partner to CARE faculty, representing their interests in all funding-related matters, coordinating research activities, and facilitating long-range planning for salaries, staffing, and operational expenses.

This position also plays a central role in the division's financial health by proactively managing award budgets, overseeing post-award administration, minimizing overdrafts, and streamlining accounting operations. The Fund Manager will represent the division in departmental and campus-wide funding meetings and contribute to improving internal processes through policy recommendations and system enhancements.

Hourly range: $35.23-$53.67

Bargaining Unit: Teamsters-CX

Qualifications
Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of research administration experience.
  • 3+ years of financial, clerical, or administrative experience.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate information and establish cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to set priorities and complete ongoing tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Close attention to detail in a fast-paced, fluctuating workload environment.
  • Strong organizational skills to effectively create and maintain administrative and financial files.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft suite software, especially Excel.
