Yard Operator

Staffmark is hiring a hardworking and reliable Yard Operator to join a growing steel distributor in Gastonia, NC. If you have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and enjoy hands-on work in an outdoor/industrial setting, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

Pay: $18.00/hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

What You'll Do:

• Pull and prepare stock materials for orders
• Operate saws and bevellers to process materials
• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently
• Maintain a clean, organized yard and work area
• Receive, stock, and track inventory in designated areas
• Read and interpret pipe stencils accurately
• Safely use equipment to transport materials throughout the yard
• Report issues or discrepancies to management promptly
• Follow all safety protocols and company procedures
• Perform additional duties and maintenance tasks as assigned

Skills & Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks
• Proficient in basic math and using a tape measure
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Strong time management and attention to detail
• Able to pass and maintain active forklift certification
• Previous yard, warehouse, or industrial experience a plus
• Must follow all safety protocols and operational procedures
