We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Junior Network Engineer. As a Junior Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in assisting with the design, implementation, and maintenance of our organization's network infrastructure. You will work closely with our senior network engineers and IT team to ensure the smooth operation of our network systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, configuration, and implementation of network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.

  • Troubleshoot network issues and provide timely resolution to minimize downtime and ensure optimal network performance.

  • Perform regular network monitoring and analysis to proactively identify and address potential network vulnerabilities or performance bottlenecks.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network security measures, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry best practices.

  • Assist in the installation and configuration of network equipment and software, ensuring adherence to established standards.

  • Participate in network capacity planning, making recommendations for network upgrades or enhancements based on future growth projections.

  • Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation.

  • Manage inventory, rack and stage network hardware for configuration.

  • Support in office tasks including domestic and international shipping and receiving of network hardware.

Skills:

  • Supports, installs, configures, and evaluates network communications, including LAN, WAN, and Wireless hardware and software.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves network-related issues to minimize downtime and enhance user experience.

  • Implements and maintains network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and data breaches.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to design and implement network infrastructure solutions.

  • Conducts regular network audits to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary upgrades.

  • Monitors network performance and analyzes network traffic patterns to optimize resource allocation and enhance efficiency.

  • Stays up-to-date with the latest advancements in networking technologies and trends to provide innovative solutions.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Solid understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, and network security concepts.

  • Knowledge of network monitoring tools and software, such as Wireshark or Nagios.

  • Familiarity with network hardware and software, including Cisco, Juniper, or Palo Alto products.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve network issues effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Relevant certifications, such as CCNA or Network+, are a plus.

  • Hybrid - work in Office 4 days a week - Schaumburg, IL Some off hours work and rotating weekend on-call scheduled.

  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs to move boxes of hardware, rack and cable network systems.

  • Bachelors degree with 1+ years of network engineering experience

  • OR 2+ years of network engineering experience
