What to Expect
The Sensing Hardware Team is seeking an electrical engineer specializing in RF or radar system design with 3+ years of industry experience. This role will primarily focus on developing advanced radar-based in-cabin sensing technologies for safety and wellness features. As a Sensor Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the sensing system and its features at any point in the product life cycle; serve as the owner of a given sensing system to address any issues discovered from development through deployment; understand and debug hardware and software interactions from prototyping through product launch; and manage priorities and support a host of projects simultaneously.

What You'll Do
  • Specification generation: distill sensor product requirements into constraints and actionable engineering systems design discussions
  • Collaboration: lead cross-functional sensor design discussions with electrical, software, antenna design, EMC, reliability, thermal, and mechanical, supply chain and manufacturing teams
  • Architecture definition: translate sensor design discussions into design documents in the form of system block diagrams, functional and performance requirements
  • Design and develop RF hardware/system and/or antenna characterization for sensors
  • Schematic & PCB Layout: Review schematics and guide layout from RF perspective, perform impedance matching, bring up and validate wireless hardware
  • BOM definition: work with the supply chain team to ensure components will meet performance, cost & manufacturing requirements
  • Prototyping: support early sensor prototype development to de-risk modern technologies
  • Validation: generate/execute the test plan that includes milestones that focus on de-risking product and/or feature deployment and align with the program timeline
  • Qualification: ensure the hardware meets required design criteria across a host of environments and regulations while collaborating with the reliability, test and homologation teams
  • Production: work with manufacturing/test teams and suppliers to achieve high-volume mass production with high yield

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Deep understanding of system-level RF Parameters (e.g. power, sensitivity, throughput, latency etc.) in at least one of the wireless technologies
  • Hands-on experience with RF lab test instruments
  • Knowledge of RF hardware design or antenna characterization and experience reviewing RF schematics and PCB layouts to ensure adherence to best practices
  • Debugging experience with wireless radio systems at the conducted or radiated level
  • Knowledge of multi-radio co-existence and RF desense mitigation
  • Experience with Power Management for sensing HW and knowledge of dcdc converters, LDOs for supply management on complex boards
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, SPICE, or similar simulation and modeling tools as well as data visualization and statistical analysis
  • Experience in high-volume mass production and collaboration with suppliers and contract manufacturers
