The Senior Engineer at T-Mobile is a key technical leader responsible for developing, deploying, and optimizing platform services that support core data workloads. By enhancing platform infrastructure, they ensure strong performance, security, and cost efficiency. This role combines platform architecture with hands-on engineering, emphasizing automation, developer experience, and operational excellence. Working within an Agile environment, the Sr Engineer collaborate closely with engineering, data, and product teams to advance platform capabilities. Through these contributions, they strengthen the technological framework that underpins T-Mobile's strategic objectives.

Job Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops, and deploys platform services to enhance infrastructure performance, security, observability, and cost-efficiency.
- Optimizes existing platform services to handle core data and commerce workloads efficiently.
- Builds and maintains REST APIs to integrate platform capabilities and improve developer experience.
- Leverages OpenTelemetry and observability tools (such as Splunk, Grafana, or Prometheus) to ensure visibility, reliability, and proactive incident response.
- Works with Kubernetes and Linux-based systems to automate deployments and maintain resilient environments.
- Collaborates with engineering, data, and product teams in an Agile environment to advance platform capabilities.
- Focuses on automation and operational excellence to improve developer experience.
- Ensures robust platform architecture and practical engineering solutions focused on automation, scalability, and security.
- Works within an Agile environment to streamline processes and enhance productivity
- Partners with cross-functional teams to support commerce, retail, billing, and self-service systems.
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or Related Field (Required)
- Master's/Advanced Degree Computer Science or Data Science (Preferred)
- 4-7+ years experience developing and deploying platform services with a focus on automation and operational excellence
- 4-7+ years of collaborating with engineering, data, and product teams in an Agile environment to advance platform capabilities
- 7-10+ years optimizing infrastructure for performance, security, and cost-efficiency in a cloud environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Observability & Monitoring - Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Grafana, or Prometheus to build proactive monitoring solutions
- Programming - Proficiency in Java or Python, with experience building REST APIs and automation workflows
- System Expertise - Proficient with Linux and Kubernetes for deployment, orchestration, and operational management
- Agile Methodologies - Expertise in applying Agile practices and principles to improve efficiency and effectiveness of software development projects (Required)
- Technical Leadership - Ability to lead platform engineering initiatives, providing technical guidance in a dynamic environment (Required)
- Problem Solving - Strong analytical skills to solve complex technical issues and optimize platform performance and security (Required)
- Data Management - Skilled in managing and structuring large datasets to improve platform functionality and developer experience (Required)
- Collaboration - Effective in working cross-functionally with various teams to enhance platform capabilities and achieve business goals (Required)
- Security - In-depth understanding of cybersecurity principles to safeguard platform integrity and data privacy (Required)
- Process Optimization - Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies for continuous improvement (Preferred)
- Commerce & Billing - Understanding of retail, self-service, and billing platforms (Preferred)
- ServiceNow AI Ops - Experience leveraging AI-driven IT operations for automation and incident management (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- Lean/Six Sigma Certification - Demonstrates expertise in process improvement, operational efficiency, and continuous quality enhancement (Preferred)
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) - Validates the ability to design, build, configure, and manage Kubernetes-based environments (Preferred)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Demonstrates proficiency in designing distributed systems and applications on AWS (Preferred)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) - Advanced certification in managing and securing corporate environments (Preferred)

Base Pay Range: $116,000 - $209,300
Corporate Bonus Target: 15%
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.
At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
