About our group:

Do you have a background in embedded firmware and a passion for innovation? Our team designs, develops, tests, and integrates firmware solutions that support cutting-edge storage products. We collaborate across engineering disciplines to implement features and functions for next-generation technologies, including HAMR (Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording), and define hardware and firmware architectures for future platforms.

About the role - you will:

We are looking for a curious and motivated intern to join our Firmware Engineering team. This internship offers hands-on experience in embedded systems development and exposure to AI/ML applications in engineering workflows. You'll work alongside experienced engineers to support firmware development, diagnostics, and performance analysis for next-generation storage products.



Key Responsibilities



  • Assist in developing and testing embedded firmware features.
  • Support internal projects that explore AI/ML techniques for diagnostics and workflow optimization.
  • Help analyze telemetry and performance data to improve firmware reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineers to understand firmware architecture and development processes.

About you:

  • Interest or exposure in AI/ML and its applications in engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly.

Your experience includes:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and returning to school in Fall 2026.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with C/C++ and Python programming.
  • Exposure to embedded systems concepts through coursework or projects.



Preferred Skills



  • Experience with Python or ML frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Basic understanding of storage systems or hardware interfaces.

The estimated base wage range for this position is $24.00 - $35.00/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan. Seagate also offers Interns 12 paid holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave. The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.
