Job Overview:

The Unit Secretary provides clerical and receptionist support for the unit and is the communication link of the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Clerical experience

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full Time Day

Essential Functions:

  • Answers telephone calls, screen calls, takes messages and provides information according to established policies
  • Deals discreetly with sensitive and confidential information
  • Transcribes dictation, types correspondence, memos, reports, minutes, etc,
  • Proofs typed materials, makes corrections and recommends changes,
  • Handles incoming and outgoing mail; open, sort and prioritize,
  • Answers routine inquires
  • Facilitates scheduling of inpatients to outside referring facilities and inpatient Ambulatory Care
  • Assists in setting up office systems
  • Maintains files and established departmental and hospital policies and procedures
  • Orders and maintain supplies and equipment
