Position Summary:

The Senior Graphic Designer provides creative and technical support to the Marketing Manager in planning, designing, and producing marketing materials across print, digital, and multimedia platforms. Responsibilities include creating layouts for advertising, program guides, signage, and collateral; designing digital content for social media, email, and the website; photographing and filming programs and events for promotional use. This position also maintains brand standards, organizes and manages digital assets, and contributes to the development of fundraising and donor communication materials. The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of professional design experience, a strong eye for layout and typography, and proficiency with industry-standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite or similar). Experience with photography, video production, and current design trends is required, along with strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Prepares layout and copy for marketing flyers, brochures, newsletters, email newsletters, advertising and other media ensuring content is effective, culturally appropriate, on-brand, and error-free.
  • Under the direction of the Marketing Manager, is responsible for marketing communication projects from conception to completion and dissemination/distribution according to marketing plan and internal customer requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Designs and manages projects across print, digital, and presentation formats to support marketing and communication needs.
  • Maintains Kroc marketing campaigns across digital channels including the website, TV screens, social media, and online community calendars; serve as back-up for daily social media updates.
  • Serve as primary photographer for all Kroc events, programs, and general Kroc facility photos to be used for promotional material, impact statements, and general communication.
  • In conjunction with the Programming Department, leads development of the seasonal Program Guide from conception to completion; updates printed materials, Kroc website, and member communications as needed. (I might change this one...)
  • Takes lead on key marketing campaigns including but not limited to, Clothe a Child, Camp Kroc, and Kroc Church.
  • In partnership with the Marketing Manager and Development Department, produces donor communications and fundraising materials, including direct mail, website content, donor testimonials, and donation forms, as well as marketing and event collateral for major campaigns such as Red Kettles and Flannel Fest.
  • Works with Development Coordinator and Marketing Manager on marketing needs for outside Rentals, Trade Shows, & Corporate Partners.
  • Produces video/audio for social media, digital signage (TV screens) in Kroc Center, and digital advertisements such as Spotify and Pandora, as well as for use for internal training.
  • Supports branding efforts by executing marketing strategies and tracking campaign performance.
  • Maintain, organize, and expand The Kroc's photo and video library to include a variety of candid and posed content, reducing reliance on purchased stock assets.
  • Helps maintain The Salvation Army Kroc Center brand standards and manage digital assets to ensure consistency across all marketing and communication channels.
  • Other duties as assigned.


General Qualifications and Proficiencies:



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in graphic design, marketing, communications, public relations or related degree and 2-3 years of experience working in the field of marketing, advertising, communication, journalism, publishing or public relations.
  • High attention to detail, consistent reliable follow through and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects and meet established deadlines.
  • Proven multi-tasking ability as designers often work on more than one design project at a time.
  • Experience with creation, design and layout of marketing and communication collateral.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with marketing-related vendors, graphic designers, photographers, and printers.
  • Service-oriented team player who can take initiative, work independently and quickly adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and Microsoft Office (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere/After Effects, Acrobat, Capcut, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Demonstrates good judgment, resourcefulness, flexibility, attention to detail, and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with children, adults, and other staff in a capacity of leadership, counseling and education.
  • Possesses sensitivity and awareness of diverse cultural perspectives and the ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Able to occasionally work weekend/evening hours and must have willingness and ability to travel.
  • Ability to work well with other employees, customers, and donors while maintaining the standards of The Salvation Army.
  • Be able to work with all ethnic and socio-economic populations.
  • Must successfully complete The Salvation Army's decision driver training and hold a valid driver's license.
  • Must successfully complete The Salvation Army's 'Protecting the Mission' training.


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, or walk for a minimum of eight hours per day.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers and reach overhead.
  • Ability to operate telephone.
  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
