 Opportunity Summary:  General Dynamics Electric Boat, the world's foremost designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking an IT Application Architect to join the organization within the Information Technology Department.  The ideal candidate will have an enterprise mindset with the goal of aligning IT work with business-driven objectives. Relevant profiles include broad IT knowledge and experience with information systems, business and technology architecture domains as well as architecture frameworks and processes. The candidate should be an active learner and able to work independently on multiple tasks simultaneously. This role requires experience across varying applications in the areas of software requirements definition, development, design, and re-engineering Responsibilities include, but not limited to: 
     Interpreting business needs to define and address a solution's functional and nonfunctional architectural requirements Articulating ideas through compelling and relatable narratives to educate and engage relevant stakeholdersResolving issues and making progress even when given unclear, contradictory, or inconsistent informationCollaborating with other IT professionals, such as other application architects, data architects, software developers, system engineers, and infrastructure engineersDesigning or governing IT application solution architectures to meet internal and/or external business needsManaging formal and informal communications with target audience to build more effective stakeholder relationshipsCoaching non-architects to think like architects and apply architectural frameworks/processes independentlyQualifications
 
 Required: 
     Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering5+ years of experience in developing solution architectures Preferred: 
     Proficiency working within a highly regulated industry such as Federal, State, Finance, Healthcare or Life SciencesExperience reducing complex topics and distilling them into management level summaries for non-technical audiencesExperienced with industry frameworks and standards such UML, TOGAF, ITILUnderstanding of multiple software development life-cycles (SDLC) methodologies, e.g., waterfall, agileSkills
 
 
     Understanding the enterprise-level implications of day-day decisionsComfortable collaborating amongst a senior team of architectsApplying and promoting best practices in a modern delivery environmentEffectively engaging, influencing and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve architecture goalsSolving problems, navigating complex situations and adapting to new information to drive business successPossessing a blend of technical and analytical skillsEnvironmental Attributes
