The Opportunity

Live and work in THE LAND OF ENCHANTMENT. CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center is located at the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in beautiful Santa Fe, NM. We are seeking a full- time hepatopancreaticobiliary surgeon with minimally invasive experience (preferred but not required) to join our Regional Cancer Center.

CHRISTUS St. Vincent's Regional Cancer Center is a brand-new, state-of-the art facility. We offer a wide-range of cancer treatment/care and supportive services designed to address the physical, emotional, psychological as well as the practical needs of our patients and their families.

Our multidisciplinary clinical team is led by highly skilled physicians and advanced practice clinicians specializing in medical oncology, breast surgery, hepatobiliary surgery and radiation oncology. With deep expertise and a collaborative approach, the team delivers comprehensive, patient-centered cancer care. We leverage the EPIC/Beacon electronic medical record system across all inpatient and outpatient settings to ensure seamless coordination and continuity of care.

Our Regional Cancer Center is also a proud affiliate of the Mayo Clinic Care Network - a major asset to our cancer patients. We are the only Mayo affiliate in the state of New Mexico and hold this distinction with fewer than 50 elite organizations nationwide who have been selected by Mayo for this impressive collaboration. Through this affiliation, our providers gain access to Mayo Clinic's vast resources, including research, diagnostic tools, and treatment protocols which empowers our local team of physicians to consult directly with Mayo experts and apply cutting-edge knowledge directly to patient care. In addition to this esteemed Mayo affiliation, our physicians also have access to CHRISTUS St. Vincent's very own Clinical Trials and Research portfolio. MEDICAL & CLINICAL SUPPORT



  • Anesthesia Care Team our in-house anesthesia team is physician-led and supports with advanced cancer cases.
  • Patient Navigation to help patients navigate the healthcare system, coordinate appointments, treatments & resources.
  • Supportive/Palliative Care Medicine to provide symptom relief and comfort to aid in quality of life for patients & their families. Offerings include: massage, acupuncture, meditation, art therapy, reiki treatment and relaxation & stress management mindfulness.
  • Genetic Counseling to assess hereditary cancer risks and help families understand genetic testing options.
  • Naturopathic Medicine/Oriental Medicine to support the body, alleviate side effects and enhance overall well-being.


EMOTIONAL & PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT



  • Counseling Services to help our patients cope with diagnosis and treatment.
  • Support Groups in partnership with the local cancer foundation
  • Social Workers to help connect patients and families with community resources, support groups and wellness programs, as well as, psychosocial support to help address anxiety, depression & stress through therapy & coping strategies


NUTRITIONAL & PHYSICAL WELLBEING SUPPORT



  • Nutrition Counseling offering tailored dietary plans to support treatment & recovery
  • Rehabilitation Services within our health system to restore function & mobility
  • Exercise Programs to help maintain strength and reduce fatigue


PRACTICAL & LOGISTICAL SUPPORT



  • 24/7 Call coverage to offer round the clock support and information for patients, care-givers and family members
  • Lodging Assistance in collaboration with the local cancer foundation for patients traveling for treatment


SPIRITUAL & HOLISTIC CARE



  • Spiritual/Emotional Support -- Chaplain-led to support patients seeking comfort and spiritual care.


The Position

We are seeking a board-certified/board-eligible HPB Surgeon with experience in minimally invasive surgery preferred to join our multidisciplinary cancer care team. This full-time position will focus on the surgical management of complex liver, pancreas, and biliary tract diseases, including oncologic resections and minimally invasive procedures.

Key Responsibilities Include:



  • Provide high-quality surgical care for HPB malignancies and benign conditions
  • Collaborate with medical and radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and support services
  • Participate in tumor boards and clinical research initiatives
  • Share in practice call responsibilities
  • Utilize EPIC EMR across inpatient and outpatient settings for seamless care coordination


Qualifications:



  • Board-certified/eligible in General Surgery
  • Fellowship training in HPB Surgery or Surgical Oncology with HPB focus
  • Experience with minimally invasive surgical platforms and practices
  • Eligible for medical licensure in New Mexico
