The SVP Enterprise Strategy is an executive-level leader within the UnitedHealth Group Strategy team, which is accountable for shaping and informing the enterprise's agenda, decisions, and alignment related to our growth, performance, enterprise impact through development and execution of enterprise level strategic direction and initiatives. As a member of the leadership strategy team, this person will be focused collaboratively executing on strategic engagements across UnitedHealth Group. The person will develop deep relationships with executives at the highest level within UHG to foster collaboration, deliver complex, cross-functional strategic work, and attract, develop, and retain top talent, building an industry leading team.

This position follows a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week.

Core focus:

  • Driving bold, visionary strategic thinking with a balance of pragmatic and foundational grounding, elevating the Strategy function within UHG
  • Developing and leveraging earned personal credibility and executive presence to successfully navigate UHG's robust business portfolio and leadership landscape across Optum & UHC and working effectively as a part of a team across the Strategy function.
  • Shape and influence the long-term UHG planning process, including analyzing risks and opportunities, collaborating with UHG executives on trend and market assessment, scenario planning, and action plan development.
  • Leading cross-functional strategy engagements, including value creation thesis and measurement, and ongoing operational go-to-market and implementation; creating clear, high impact, work product in support of UHG senior executive management, board of directors, and external parties.
  • Developing and managing communication with internal UHG partners (e.g., C-Suite and decision makers) to foster collaboration and alignment in a complex multi-sided environment
  • Delivering success through strategic and financial value realization for UHG, balancing short and long-term objectives
  • Executing against and managing a high demand, diverse, project portfolio and cross-functional project teams, including teammates across the UHG Strategy teams and cross enterprise business partners supporting a portfolio of diverse work.

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Minimum of 20 years of strategic business development, corporate development, corporate strategy, or senior level consulting experience with 10+ years of experience leading strategy and/or business teams in a Fortune 200 environment
  • 5+ years within a health care environment
  • Demonstrated track record of productive relationships with C-Suite and senior-level client executives.
  • Proven success by accessing and influencing senior level internal and/or external clients.
  • Deep experience collaborating and navigating large organizations and cross-functional teams on multi-year engagements; navigating complex multi-sided stakeholder groups.
  • Solid ability to own and drive external partnerships, representing organization with credibility and impact in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Solid ability to lead through conflict resolution and complex problem-solving across multiple groups and businesses including senior executive stakeholders.
  • Seasoned communicator, able to balance multiple levels of decision makers simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to build and develop a market leading strategic team with a diverse team, creating a culture of performance, deep engagement, within a dynamic and demanding environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MHA)
  • Located in MN or DC
  • Deep understanding of and experience with UnitedHealth Group's enterprise, business units, and capabilities including value-based care models, multi-business line benefits, health care technology, and other health services - financial services / payments, pharmacy.
  • Experience and understanding of how AI will impact health care.
  • Broad understanding of the health care system - financial models, contractual arrangements, care models. Essentially 'how it all works with a balance of historical and forward-looking context.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $225,000 to $375,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
