Available Locations: Austin, TX & Washington, DC About the Department Because of the scope, complexity, and diversity of the company's work, we need a world-class legal team to help the company avoid distractions, and guide company leadership around obstacles. Our legal team is made up of very accomplished lawyers and staff who comprise a flexible, talented, and very cohesive team. About the Role We are looking for an exceptionally talented, energetic, and friendly attorney to join our legal team based in Austin, TX, or Washington, D.C.. As a senior member of the commercial legal team, you will be called upon to handle sophisticated agreements. This is a mid-senior to senior level legal position that is perfect for a highly qualified lawyer looking for an opportunity in a rapidly scaling company who is open to growth. A typical day in this role involves working closely with our sales, partnership, finance, sales operations, and special projects teams to review, draft and negotiate contracts. You may also find yourself working on a number of other legal issues as needed to support business initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strong negotiator who is equally versed in day-to-day legal matters and strategic business thinking. A strong candidate will feel confident doing the following: Draft and negotiate complex agreements including MSAs, BAAs, DPAs, and other contracts common in Internet based services. Partner with cross functional stakeholders and seek out cross functional expertise on novel issues. Provide direct support for enterprise grade sales. Create, update and manage new playbooks as necessary. Partner with revenue recognition, security, sales operations, technology operations, and other stakeholder teams to ensure agreements are consistent with internal Cloudflare policies and processes. Requirements: JD degree with strong academic credentials. Firm experience in a Technology Transactions group. Admitted to practice law and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in the state in which the position is located. 10+ years relevant experience. Experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements common to Internet based companies. In depth experience counseling on strategic program initiatives. Good strategic, business sense, and demonstrated negotiation skills with respect to legal issues. Detail oriented and technically-adept, preferably with experience at a SaaS or Cloud company. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters. The ability to work in a team, with lawyers and non-lawyers, to establish scalable solutions efficiently and in an amenable manner. Bonus Points Demonstrated commitment to a team or community. Experience using systems such Salesforce, DocuSign, Ironclad and JIRA. Compensation Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location. For D.C. based hires: Estimated annual salary of $206,000 - $252,000 Equity This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare's equity plan.
