Diet Clerk I - Patient Satisfaction Team | Food & Nutrition Service | Full-Time | Christiana Hospital - Newark Campus

ChristianaCare is seeking a Diet Clerk I to support our Patient Satisfaction Team-the heart of our hostess/host program. This role ensures patients receive exceptional meal service and a positive dining experience during their hospital stay.

Location: Christiana Hospital - Newark Campus
Schedule: Every other weekend & holiday rotation | 10-hour shifts

Schedule Details

• 10-hour shifts with rotating start times:
  • Manager coverage: 6:30 AM or 9:00 AM
  • Hostess/host shifts: 7:30, 7:45, 8:00, 8:15, or 8:30 AM

• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required.

What You'll Do

• Serve as a key liaison between patients and our Food & Nutrition Services team.
• Round on patients and hostess/hosts to ensure meal service meets quality and scripting standards.
• Cover for Patient Experience Managers during days off and PTO.
• Monitor tray delivery and pickup for accuracy and timeliness.
• Assist with service recovery and resolve patient concerns promptly.
• When not on manager coverage, work as a hostess/host providing direct meal service.

What We're Looking For

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Completion of appropriate post secondary nutrition courses or certified dietary manager preferred.
• Previous food service and clerical experience in a major medical environment preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of nutrition principles and modified diets a plus.
