Pharmacy Technician IV

Full-Time I Second Shift

Pharmacy Hospital I Lexington, KY

The Department of Pharmacy Services of Baptist Health Lexington provides pharmaceutical services to patients across the continuum of care. These services include, but are not limited to verification of medication orders, drug distribution, sterile product preparation, hazardous drug preparation, and utilization of automated dispensing cabinets.

Description:

  • Adheres to infection control policies and protocols and maintains a safe and clean pharmacy.
  • Fills stock orders, inpatient, and outpatient orders within state and federal laws, checking by a pharmacist or nationally certified pharmacy technician.
  • Packages and labels medication per department guidelines; validates barcode accuracy for automated dispensing machines.
  • Performs station inspections, orders medications, checks in and stocks ordered medications, fills stocking reports, and rotates stock to avoid product out-dates.
  • Handles controlled substances following pharmacy department policies and procedures.
  • Provides appropriate documentation as required.
  • Attends meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of regulatory bodies and federal/state laws and regulations for nonsterile and sterile compounding.
  • Prepares sterile compounds in accordance with guidelines, standards, and regulations.
  • Identifies stock needed for sterile compounding and maintains appropriate inventory.
  • Serves as a mentor for new pharmacy employees regarding sterile compounding processes.
  • Works on cost containment of compounded sterile products and performs environmental testing of the sterile compounding environment.

Requirements:

  • Less than High School.
  • Less than one year; 6 months of hospital pharmacy experience required.
  • Kentucky Board of Pharmacy registration certificate for Pharmacy Technician within 30 days of hire date. If you are a new registrant, you must have registration upon hire.
  • Nationally certified as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern license.
