Position Summary


The Broadcast Operations & Media Support Engineer provides essential technical and operational support for live productions, events, and daily broadcast/AV workflows within the arena. Reporting to the Engineer in Charge (EIC), this role ensures reliable operation of IPTV and digital signage platforms, supports broadcast and AV systems during events, and contributes to projects and commissioning activities.


This role is the primary point of contact for IPTV content management, ensuring that all digital signage is up to date, accurate, and functional across LSquared or any future IPTV platforms. The engineer will troubleshoot signage and content issues in real time, coordinate with production teams to ensure media readiness, and provide operational support across video, audio, and lighting systems. When delegated, this role may also act as Technical Director (TD) during live events.



Key Responsibilities


IPTV & Digital Signage Operations



  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IPTV and digital signage systems (LSquared or any future IPTV platform).
  • Manage and update digital signage content for all live productions and events, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitor IPTV endpoints and signage players to confirm proper playback and synchronization.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve signage-related technical issues, escalating to the EIC when necessary.
  • Ensure event-specific and daily media content is properly loaded, scheduled, and displayed.


Live Production Support



  • Operate and monitor LED displays and digital signage systems during live productions, working under the direction of the EIC.
  • Ensure IPTV, LED, and signage systems are fully functional and media content is properly displayed throughout live events.
  • Provide real-time monitoring and technical support to resolve issues with signage, IPTV, or LED systems during productions.
  • Act as the first responder for signage-related issues, escalating to the EIC when additional support is required.
  • Assist with AV and broadcast system operations as directed by the EIC.
  • Coordinate with directors, producers, and event staff to confirm system readiness for live productions.

Event Support



  • Prepare and verify IPTV, LED, and digital signage systems for scheduled events, ensuring content and playback are accurate and event-ready.
  • Provide real-time monitoring and troubleshooting for signage, IPTV, and LED systems during events, escalating to the EIC when necessary.
  • Act in an operational capacity across video, audio, and lighting systems, and serve as Technical Director (TD) during live events when assigned, coordinating technical execution across all systems including signage.
  • Request and coordinate flex resources as needed to meet the technical requirements of specific events.
  • Support the EIC in ensuring event show flow, technical readiness, and overall system performance.


Project Support & Commissioning Team



  • Support on-premises project work under the direction of the EIC; assist Diversified's project delivery team for larger or complex projects to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
  • Participate in arena-based technical projects as part of the commissioning team, assisting with testing, validation, and documentation of IPTV and signage systems.
  • Contribute to system documentation by updating IPTV and signage-related as-built drawings, configuration records, and media asset workflows.


System & Asset Support



  • Support the maintenance and operational readiness of all arena production and broadcast systems and hardware, including IPTV, digital signage, LED displays, video, audio, lighting, and control systems.
  • Perform routine inspections, readiness checks, and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure all systems are event-ready.
  • Maintain accurate records of system status, firmware versions, configuration updates, and service history.
  • Assist the EIC with inventory tracking, ensuring spares, consumables, and replacement parts are available to support ongoing operations.
  • Escalate complex technical issues or repair needs to the EIC or Diversified project delivery teams as required.


Safety & Compliance



  • Adhere to all workplace safety standards, OSHA regulations, and venue-specific safety requirements.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment) and follow safe working practices during all tasks.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with HR, legal, and client requirements.
  • Report and document any safety incidents, near misses, or hazards in accordance with Diversified and client policies.
  • Meet physical requirements of the role, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, squat, bend, and reach overhead as needed for equipment installation, maintenance, and event setup.

Required / Desired Skills & Experience


Required



  • 2-4 years of experience in broadcast operations, AV support, or digital signage/IPTV systems.
  • Hands-on experience with IPTV platforms (LSquared preferred) and digital signage workflows.
  • Ability to manage and update media content across IPTV and signage platforms.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for AV/broadcast systems including video, audio, lighting, and control hardware.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure during live events.


Desired



  • Familiarity with LED walls and arena-scale AV environments.
  • Experience supporting projects or system commissioning under supervision.
  • Knowledge of CMS signage workflows (e.g., BrightSign, Scala) or IPTV platforms.
  • Certifications in AVIXA CTS or manufacturer-specific platforms a plus.
