Position Summary and Responsibilities:

The Category Management Specialist is primarily responsible for space management and developing/producing shelf schematics for its assigned group of accounts. This position assists with National Account and independent account resets and tracks/measures shelf space for independent accounts.




  • Develop schematics for the set and/or reset of each retail account in assigned territory
  • Track schematics of each account as well as changes in space (gains and losses), sales ratio to space allocated, and other critical business data
  • Build and update schematics for each account using Space Planning Plus software
  • Organize box sets by beer category and price flow
  • Ensure the proper product mix for each account
  • Print and store all schematics in an electronic file
  • Track space percentages and facings for each account using Planogram Management Tool including space gains or losses for incentive programs offered by BEK and suppliers
  • Manage database for shelf pricing, order tags, stripping, and labels, and to ensure sets are accurate
  • Assist in finding opportunities for growth in product facings and share for BEK brand portfolio
  • Keep all account schematics current and accurate for BEK and supplier tracking purposes
  • Assist the retailer and BEK by maximizing the space to sales ratio for each box set
  • Create and maintain a folder that has all products carried by BEK and update it each month
  • Consistently demonstrate and model good management and self-management practices in support of Ben E. Keith culture
  • Project a friendly, professional image at all times
  • Prioritize multiple, competing priorities
  • Perform other duties as assigned




Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:



  • All applicants hired by Ben E. Keith Beverages are required by the State of Texas to obtain two TABC licenses
  • Strong understanding of beverage industry landscape
  • Excellent performance in previous BEK career path positions
  • Five years sales and/or account management experience or market knowledge preferred
  • Extensive computer skills required
  • Ability to learn and use relevant internal computer applications
  • Experience utilizing Space Planning Plus to efficiently build retailer planograms preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Strong familiarity with syndicated data, software, and measures (IRI, Nielsen, etc.)
  • Ability to use 10-key by touch preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Able to coordinate multiple activities and follow through with commitments
  • Good oral and written communication skills and participate well in a team environment
  • Must be highly motivated and results oriented, with a strong attention to detail
  • Must be organized with the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Strong understanding of retail environment
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Must be able to read and write English
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
  • Must have the ability to lead others and obtain desired results through motivation, communication, and leading by example
  • Must be 18 yrs. or older to apply
  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent preferred but not required

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards


  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs
