Financial Affairs at the University of Central Florida partners with our university to continuously improve and deliver outstanding administrative and financial services through innovative business and technological solutions and sound fiscal stewardship.

The Opportunity:

The Accounting Specialist Ill is responsible for researching, identifying, and ensuring financial transactions are posted in a timely and accurate manner to the subsidiary and general ledgers for students and university departments.

Responsibilities:


  • Financial Document Review and Reconciliation: Review, research, and validate account assignments for Contracts & Grants (C&G) and Research Foundation (RFD) to ensure accuracy and compliance prior to cashier processing.

  • Transaction Approval and Policy Adherence: Approve departmental cash sales and CPAY transactions within the Workday system, ensuring strict adherence to university policies and internal controls.

  • Payment Processing and Student Account Management: Process returned items and VA Chapter 33 payments.

  • Guarantee timely and accurate posting to student accounts, including the assessment of applicable fees.

  • Customer Service and Inquiry Resolution: Provide responsive, knowledgeable, and professional support for student account inquiries, effectively managing high-volume email correspondence and serving as a subject matter expert.

  • Electronic Payment Handling: Retrieve, prepare, and distribute ACH and other electronic payments to ensure prompt and accurate processing and recording.

  • Departmental Representation and Support: Represent the Student Accounts office at student orientation sessions.

  • Serve as backup support to the Late Fee Coordinator to ensure continuity of critical departmental functions.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Three (3) or more years of experience in student accounts, bursar operations, accounts receivable, or similar financial services within a higher education environment.

  • Familiarity with enterprise financial systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Workday, or similar platforms) for financial and student account management.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong communication and experience providing customer service and resolving financial inquiries in high-volume settings.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $42,367 to $43,640. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations. The University of Central Florida is closed for holiday break from Friday, December 19, 2024, through Friday, January 2, 2025. The anticipated start date for this position is after the university closure, with a anticipated start date the third week of January 2025.
