Long Description
The data scientist and AI developer is responsible for the day-to-day tasks associated with Southwire's connected factory systems, robotic process automation systems, and other computer system integrations with various business systems. An individual in this role will also analyze connected factory data for trends and reporting. This role involves using advanced analytical techniques and machine learning models to analyze complex data sets, extract actionable insights, and automate business processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Collaborate with stakeholders from manufacturing operations and business to understand operational and business needs and translate them into data and AI strategies. * Collect, clean, and preprocess large, complex data sets from various sources. * Research and devise innovative statistical models and machine learning algorithms for data analysis and prediction. * Develop, test, deploy and maintain production grade AI-powered applications, such as generative AI tools, chatbots, LLMs, RAGs, or predictive analytics systems. * Integrate (e.g. using Rest API) and fine-tune AI models within existing software applications and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure). * Conduct routine tests on AI systems and perform error analysis to validate, improve, and ensure the accuracy of models. * Create data visualizations and reports to effectively communicate findings and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences. * Automate data collection and reporting processes to improve efficiency. * Contribute to documentation, sharing knowledge, and stay up to date with new advancements in AI and data science. * Support and maintain scripts in VB Script, Java, Python, and PowerShell, or any other up and coming scripting languages * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively on a team. Qualifications and Experience * A bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field is typically required, with a master's degree often preferred. * Area of study/expertise: Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python (including libraries like pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn etc) and SQL. Experience with other languages like R or Java is a plus * AI/ML Expertise: Solid understanding of machine learning models and deep learning architectures (e.g., neural networks, decision trees) and familiarity with frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras. * Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) for model deployment and scaling * Certifications: Data Scientist and Visualization Focus, ML or Generative AI Focus, Cloud and scaling focus (Gemini, Vertex AI preferably) * Technical skills: Python, SQL, VB Script, Java, PowerShell, Cloud shell (Unix-Linux), Proficient with Microsoft tools (e.g. Co-pilot), ABBYY, C#, .Net, SOAP & REST API, R, Vertex AI
